Burmese Girl by the Bay of Bengal Makes Coffee for Me: A Small Experience by Indawgyi Lake

I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to travel to a corner of Myanmar that is not Bagan or Mandalay but a mysterious area inKachin StateThe Indawgyi Lake area, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. The atmosphere here is completely different from the Myanmar images we usually see. The vast calm water and small villages by the lake made me feel like I had stepped into another world.

That day, I took a boat from a village by Indawgyi Lake, slowly drifting through clear water reflecting the blue sky. A cool breeze came intermittently. A group of Red Tai Burmese girls sat on the same boat. They spoke little English, but their smiles and kindness made me feel warm. It was at this moment that a memorable event happened, which I will share.

Hot Coffee by the Bay of Bengal with a Burmese Girl

At a moment when I felt tired from traveling under the gentle sunlight, that Burmese girl took out a traditional coffee maker and brewed hot coffee. The fragrant aroma spread around. I sipped that cup of coffee, rich and sweet in the style of Burmese coffee, brewed with heart. It was not just a drink but a sharing of warmth and friendship that I could find nowhere else.

We communicated through gestures and smiles, which made me think of the simple life here, where people still live closely connected to nature and traditional culture. This Burmese girl represents the Red Tai and Shan people living around Indawgyi Lake, an area I have written about in my articles.Indawgyi: Freshwater Lake in Kachin StateThis place is not just an ordinary tourist spot but a natural and cultural heritage remarkably well preserved.

Lakeside Lifestyle: Fresh Markets and Local Food

After brewing coffee, I had the chance to stroll through a small market by the lake. This is not a typical tourist market but a real local market where villagers sell fresh produce, river fish, and forest products. The lively yet simple atmosphere seemed to tell the story of the abundant nature still surrounding the area.

I tried local dishes at a small nearby village shop, such as spicy and rich river fish curry served with hot sticky rice. The taste was completely different from the Burmese food I had eaten in Bagan or the city of Yangon. For me, it was a deeper and more memorable experience than just eating a meal.

Journey to Myitsone: The Origin of the Irrawaddy River

If you love nature and want to explore fully, I recommend renting a motorcycle to Myitsone, the starting point of the Irrawaddy River, Myanmar's main river formed by the confluence of the Mali and N'Mai rivers. It is not far from Indawgyi Lake. The trip takes about an hour through villages of Red Tai and Shan people who still firmly preserve their traditional way of life.

If you have enough time, I suggest stopping at roadside villages. Sometimes you will meet people who welcome you with the same kindness as the Burmese girl who made coffee for me. Reflections from Sipping Coffee by the Lake

This small experience of a Burmese girl making coffee for me by the Bay of Bengal taught me that travel is not just about seeing beautiful places but about experiencing lifestyles, meeting people, and understanding the world from a different perspective.

Indawgyi Lake and Kachin State, still relatively undiscovered by tourists, showed me the true beauty of nature and the warmth of people that my heart longed for. I, mr.hotsia, want to invite everyone to open their hearts, travel, and experience this atmosphere. I guarantee you will love Myanmar from the new perspective I found.
