This fish market is located at Chai Nat Dam, 6 kilometers south of Chai Nat city. It is a lively daily river fish wholesale market where local restaurant owners and vendors from Chai Nat and nearby provinces come to buy fish. The market offers large river fish caught at the dam's end.
You can find Pla Kraw, Pla Klai, various Pla Nang fish, and even Pla Buek here, all at affordable prices. I think this market is perfect for travelers coming down from the north and heading back to Bangkok who pass by in the morning and want to buy cheap fish to take home. The water level at the Chao Phraya Dam varies greatly; downstream the water is very low, making it easier to catch many fish. The Chao Phraya Dam is the first large-scale water regulation dam built in Thailand.
Located at Khung Bang Krabian, Village No. 3, Bang Luang Subdistrict, Sapphaya District, Chai Nat Province. His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit presided over the opening ceremony of the Chao Phraya Dam on February 7, 1957.
