In Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, I received excellent service. Then I paid respects at the city pillar before strolling through the city center to Nakhon Si Thammarat Railway Station. mr.hotsia March 2012 Information from http://www.nakhonsithammarat.go.th: The Nakhon Si Thammarat City Pillar Shrine is located north of the city square, covering 2 rai. It consists of 5 buildings, with the central one housing the city pillar. The design resembles Srivijaya art style, called the Mheratchaleela style.

The foundation stone was laid on August 4, 1989. The four smaller buildings are subsidiary shrines in the four directions, called the Four World Deities Shrine, consisting of Phra Suea Mueang Shrine, Phra Song Mueang Shrine, Phra Phrom Mueang Shrine, and Phra Bandan Mueang Shrine. Their foundation stones were laid on May 7, 1992, and construction was completed in 1999. The city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat is made from Takian Thong wood sourced from Yod Luang Mountain, one of the mountains in the Nakhon Si Thammarat range, located in Kharo Subdistrict.

Nopphitam District Branch, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The pillar is 2.94 meters tall with a circumference of 0.95 meters. The carved patterns start from the base, which has nine layers with nine designs. The top of the pillar features Jutakam Ramathep (four-faced) or the city guardian angel. At the very top is a flame above the crown, symbolizing the city pillar's victory. The carving style is inspired by Mahayana Buddhist beliefs, which historically influenced the art in southern Thailand and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The eye-opening ceremony of the city pillar was held on March 5, 1987. His Majesty the King anointed the city pillar's crown on August 3, 1987, at Chitralada Royal Villa and it was enshrined at the City Pillar Shrine.
