You can walk down to explore. When I visited in January, the Mekong River had low water levels, so the sandy beach was beautiful. The sky on the day I took photos was perfect. My favorite view was the small cliff curving along the sandy bank of the Mekong River. The slow-flowing Mekong causes the sand to collapse into the river every 5 minutes, here and there. Walking along the riverbank at the right moment when the sand falls into the water creates an amazing atmosphere. I enjoyed flicking the sand to make it fall and then walking around this desert. It was incredibly beautiful.
Sangkhom District is an area worth studying. "Sangkhom Studies" might be a fitting term for this work. It's a small district with not many tourists. There are only a few accommodations, mostly guesthouses, mainly frequented by foreigners. I am curious whether this district will become like Pai or Chiang Khan. In Pai, foreigners visited before Thais; in Chiang Khan, Thais came before foreigners. What about Sangkhom?
