Pak Khat lies along the Mekong River with beautiful views and features the Rattanawapi Stupa, which I find beautiful and unique.
If you travel from Nong Khai to Bueng Kan, you will pass through Rattanawapi. Visit the Rattanawapi Stupa first, then drive on to explore Pak Khat. The Pak Khat district town is located at the mouth of the Khon River, not the Khat River. The Khon River flows from Rattanawapi. Most tourist attractions in Pak Khat are temples, including Wat Kaset Sombun, Wat Tham Chong Vanaram, Wat Pa Rat Inplaeng, Wat Pho Sri Soi, Wat Mongkhon Chai Ram, Wat Sa Kaeo, Wat Sawang Uthit, Wat Samakkhi Tham, and Wat Suthi Vanaram.
For me, driving through the town and enjoying the Mekong riverside views is already worthwhile. It's a pity I wasn't there during meal times; otherwise, I would have tasted the cooking skills of Pak Khat's local cooks for sure.
