Many provinces have lively atmospheres, especially the rice-themed streets where water splashing and playing are festive events, such as Khao San Road, Khao Niao Road, and Khao Hom Mali Road. Just walk right in!

You won't stay dry! This year, Marapin had a great chance to join the water play at Ploenjit. Wait... didn't you say you went out of town? Haha, definitely not in Bangkok, but the real name of Khao Hom Mali Street in Roi Et (101), the heart of our Northeastern region, which is a main street where young people and people of all ages come to celebrate Songkran all along the road. There is also water play at Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park, Roi Et.
And around Bueng Phlan Chai, thanks to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Khon Kaen Office for the recommendation. This year, Roi Et has a special event: the Miss Two-In-One contest, a beauty pageant for transgender women, along with many other activities. It was truly enjoyable. The people of Roi Et are very kind. Seeing a stranger like me, all sectors gathered to splash water nonstop.
It seemed like a test for the waterproof camera I held as a target to see how well it could withstand the Songkran environment. Oh, the camera is waterproof because it's well made in Japan, but my face isn’t quite waterproof. Many shots had only a split second to snap the shutter before a bucket, a bowl, or a basin of water flew in with the wind and splashed hard... It was a lot of fun.
You have to understand this: in the morning, people go to make merit and pour water on Buddha statues, sprinkling scented water at the temple. In the afternoon, they come to have fun on the streets designated as water play zones like this. Please enjoy the atmosphere. I must say, Songkran in the Northeast, such as in Khon Kaen and Roi Et, is just as fun as the famous places elsewhere or in the North. Plus, finding accommodation and traveling is more convenient. Consider Khon Kaen as an option for next year.
From Khon Kaen, you can also travel to nearby provinces for water play, such as Roi Et, Maha Sarakham, and Udon Thani, as the distances are quite close.
