After attending the Loy Krathong festival in Tak Province, I woke up, had breakfast, then sat at Black Canyon Coffee shop at Koh Loi Resort. This coffee shop offers free WIFI, but plugging in your device costs 30 baht per hour.
Baht. If you sometimes plug in and sometimes use battery, it still costs 30 baht. I worked there from 9:30 AM until 1:00 PM before continuing my trip to Phitsanulok Province. Before heading to Phitsanulok, I found Som Tum Koh Loi restaurant. I had actually noticed it yesterday because it was very busy. Today, early afternoon, the crowd was smaller. After ordering papaya salad with crab, spicy liver salad, grilled pork, grilled chicken, and sticky rice, I ate alone and the bill was only 85 baht. Then I understood why it was so popular: Som Tum Koh Loi is cheap, clean, and delicious.
The key is affordability. Besides papaya salad and Isan dishes, they also offer desserts with a fixed price of 10 baht. You can serve yourself as much as you want. This makes the restaurant a favorite for many people in Tak Province. A small note: if you come in the afternoon, some food might be cold because it was grilled earlier.
