Back then, I visited Mon Krating in Tha Song Yang. After 20 years, I think not much has changed. It still remains close to nature with old houses.

Tha Song Yang is truly worth visiting. It is a district on the Myanmar border, separated by the Moei River between Thailand and Myanmar. Here, people can cross by boat without any ID checks. However, I didn't cross to the Myanmar side because I didn't see a reason to. There are no residents there, only small temporary houses. Only Myanmar people cross back and forth by long-tail boats, just like when I first visited Mae Sot, crossing by long-tail boat as well.
The people of Tha Song Yang include many of Myanmar descent. The morning market is not very lively, but the houses and roads in the morning are beautiful. There is a light morning mist. Even though I visited in February, it was still a bit chilly. Especially in the evening, the sunset over the mountains on the Myanmar side is extraordinary. It is one of the most beautiful sunsets in Thailand.
