Giant Ferris Wheel Asiatique: The ultimate viewpoint on the Chao Phraya River
For those not living in Bangkok or even foreign tourists visiting Thailand's capital, I, mr.hotsia, would like to share my firsthand experience at a modern tourist spot that perfectly blends classic and contemporary styles, which isThe giant Ferris wheel at Asiatiqueor fully named "Asiatique The Riverfront," located along the Chao Phraya River near Charoen Krung Road 72.
Asiatique opened only a few years ago but quickly gained popularity because it is not just a night market or shopping center. It is a unique place with a retro vibe, as if taking us back in time combined with a lively fair atmosphere full of colors and excitement.
Giant Ferris Wheel: A highlight not to be missed
What impressed me the most when visiting Asiatique was the giant Ferris wheel beautifully lit at night. Its height offers a wide view of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok that you won't find anywhere else. The ride is affordable, only150 baht per ridewhich I think is very worthwhile because besides enjoying the city lights, you can also capture beautiful photos to share on Facebook or other social media.
Atmosphere and activities inside Asiatique
Asiatique itself has a variety of shops, especially those selling antiques and interesting souvenirs. Walking around feels like reminiscing the past. There are plenty of stylish photo spots. The area by the Chao Phraya River has many restaurants where you can dine while enjoying a chill river view. I, mr.hotsia, visited at night when the weather was cool and comfortable for strolling after having a buffet at Baiyoke Hotel (if anyone is interested in a great buffet, check out my review inDelicious and satisfying cheap food near Don Mueang Airport)
Another convenience is free parking, but be careful on weekends or Fridays and Saturdays as parking fills up quickly due to crowds. I recommend coming early evening or using public transport.
Transportation and connection with Bangkok
For those coming from other provinces or airports in Bangkok, getting to Asiatique is not difficult. I, mr.hotsia, have mentioned Bangkok transportation in other articles such asFree shuttle between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airportswhich makes travel much smoother. Using public transport or taking a taxi from BTS Saphan Taksin station to Asiatique is also convenient.
If you are a traveler like me who enjoys exploring new places, I recommend planning a small trip to Asiatique in the evening, then strolling along the river to take beautiful photos before riding the giant Ferris wheel. It’s a happy way to end the day, as I have done many times.
Summary of impressions from mr.hotsia
Asiatique is not just an ordinary market or shopping spot; it is a connection between old and new Bangkok where you can walk all day without getting bored. I, mr.hotsia, prefer walking here at night because of the cool weather and decorative lights that create a mood like a childhood fair full of happiness and laughter.
If you visit Bangkok, don’t forget to stop by Asiatique and ride the giant Ferris wheel to see the beautiful view. I guarantee you will take home great photos and memories just like I, mr.hotsia, have.
