Travel from Hanoi to Bangkok with mr.hotsia: The perfect flight choice for independent travelers

I, mr.hotsia, want to share my experience returning from Hanoi, Vietnam to Bangkok that I and Jack, my sister's nephew, experienced on this trip. Actually, this trip started from Chiang Khong, passed Huay Sai, took a boat across to Pak Beng, then traveled on to Luang Prabang before taking a car through Oudomxay, Muang Khua, crossing to Dien Bien Phu and Sapa. After that, we took the train to Hanoi and also stopped to visit Mai Chao or Tai Khao town, as well as Ha Long city.

After many tiring days of travel, I wanted comfort on the way home, so I chose AirAsia's direct flight from Hanoi to Bangkok. This option was perfect because it only took a few hours to reach Suvarnabhumi Airport, much more comfortable than a long overnight bus ride from Hanoi to Vientiane.

Tips for booking AirAsia tickets in Hanoi

If you have never flown AirAsia from Hanoi, I recommend preparing to book tickets early, especially if you have a credit card and know your return date. Booking online in advance gets you much cheaper prices. For those without a credit card, don’t worry. Hanoi Airport has an AirAsia ticket counter in the east zone near a busy ice cream shop. However, counter prices are much higher than online because ticket offices in Hanoi usually add service fees.

Hanoi Airport: Prepare your mind and stomach

Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi is about 40 kilometers from the city center. A taxi flat rate costs about 10 US dollars. Most taxis offer combined packages with city accommodation. The locals really push every sale.

Regarding food at the airport, although there are many restaurants, I recommend going up to the second floor after the departure security check because the food zone there is cheaper and has more options than downstairs. The first time I went, I didn’t notice and ate at the Sky restaurant downstairs, which was much more expensive but suitable if you are very hungry. If you want to save money, go upstairs.

Landing at Suvarnabhumi: Into the familiar chaos of Bangkok

When arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport, I often think of the vibrant and lively city of Bangkok but also prepare for the heavy traffic and unique hustle and bustle of Thailand’s capital.

If you just got off the plane and want to travel into the city, I have recommended usingFree shuttle bus between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airportswhich is an economical and convenient option for those connecting flights or with business at both airports.

Bangkok to nightlife at Asiatique

If you have free time at night, don’t forget to visitAsiatiquethe riverside area along the Chao Phraya River, full of retro atmosphere with a giant illuminated Ferris wheel like a big fair. I, mr.hotsia, like coming here because there are many riverside restaurants, plus you can shop for antiques and take beautiful photos to share on social media easily.

Recommended accommodation and dining in Bangkok

For those looking for budget accommodation, I have recommendedcheap and good guesthouses near Hua Lamphongwhich is very convenient for travelers wanting to explore Bangkok and easily connect to trains or buses to other provinces. As for food in Bangkok, no need to mention—I personally enjoy the buffet at Amari Boulevard Hotel on Nana Road, which I reviewed inmy ultimate buffet clipBreakfast here includes smoked salmon and smoked duck breast, delicious enough to recommend.

Stories along the way: Small happiness from an AirAsia flight attendant

Before finishing, I, mr.hotsia, want to share that during my AirAsia trip, I took photos of the lovely and very attentive AirAsia flight attendants. This airline not only offers affordable prices but also made my journey much more comfortable. It’s another great option for those who like independent travel and want to save travel time.

Summary

If you plan to travel from Hanoi back to Bangkok, I, mr.hotsia, recommend flying with AirAsia because it is convenient, fast, and reasonably priced. Plus, I’ve shared tips for booking tickets and using Hanoi Airport services to help you prepare well. Once in Bangkok, don’t forget to visit Asiatique or choose good accommodation like guesthouses near Hua Lamphong to make your trip perfect in every way.
