Travel Joyfully in Yasothon with mr.hotsia

When talking about Yasothon province, many might recall the legend of That Kong Khan Noi Killed Mother, a local tale passed down for generations. But formr.hotsiaYasothon is not just about old stories. I have personally traveled here many times and discovered many aspects that impressed me — from food, lifestyle, to tourist spots that still preserve their original charm remarkably.

Looking Back at the Yasothon Rocket Festival and Its Festive Atmosphere

Once, when I was an air force soldier stationed in Ubon Ratchathani, my friends and I rode motorcycles to visit the Yasothon Rocket Festival, a traditional event held annually filled with joyful crowds, laughter, and the pervasive scent of liquor throughout the province. That fun experience has stayed with me until today. On my latest visit to Yasothon, I intended to find something deeper than old memories—and I was not disappointed.

Delicious Isan Food in Yasothon

For me, Yasothon is the land of authentic Isan cuisine so tasty it deserves a thumbs up, especiallyYasothon Pickled Fishwhich has a uniquely balanced sweet and sour flavor. I have tried many shops, but in the end, I always chooseTud Ting Duck Larbas a must-visit every time I come. Especially ordering fresh duck larb and intensely flavored sun-dried duck meat, served with Yasothon’s distinctive sticky rice in small, compact baskets that fill you up no matter how much you eat. The traditional Yasothon sticky rice basket is, in my opinion, a true charm of this city.

I still vividly remember walking aroundYasothon Morning Marketin the early morning. This is another favorite spot of mine because besides fresh fried pickled fish to dip with sticky rice, the market atmosphere is full of local life preserving traditions. Although younger generations increasingly shop at large supermarkets, the morning market still holds a rustic charm well worth visiting.

Experience Local Lifestyle and Culture

Besides food, Yasothon also has interesting tourist attractions such asThat Kong Khan Noi Killed Mother Stupalocated outside the city on Chaeng Sanit Road towards Ubon Ratchathani. This place is not only sacred but also where I spoke with a local auntie who shared detailed stories and history of the stupa, giving me a clearer picture of Yasothon people’s lifestyle and beliefs. Additionally, the small sticky rice baskets here are beautifully patterned and tightly packed with rice, becoming an impressive symbol of the local legend.

Another place that impressed me wasBan Song Yae Christian Churchin Thai Charoen district, the largest wooden church in Thailand with 336 wooden pillars and a roof covered by over 80,000 wooden shingles. This church is not only a beautiful and peaceful religious site in a Thai contemporary style but also accommodates over 500 people. Traveling from Yasothon city to the church is convenient via Highway 2169, passing Kut Chum district, then a short left turn to reach the destination.

Simple and Comfortable Accommodation in Yasothon City

Accommodation in Yasothon is not difficult for me. Although options are not very diverse, there are still good and affordable choices. This time I stayed atNoble Place Hotellocated at 170/1 Wareeratchet Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Yasothon District, phone 045-714300. Prices range around 400-500 baht per night, suitable for travelers seeking comfortable lodging near the walking street and delicious restaurants like Tud Ting. It is also convenient for traveling to various city attractions.

Loeng Nok Tha and Yasothon’s Charming Little Corners

On my trip, I also visitedLoeng Nok Thaa uniquely named place derived from the Nok Tha bird, which was once abundant here. Nowadays, these birds are nearly gone due to land changes and lifestyle shifts. I saw a large Nok Tha bird statue in front of a local school, serving as a symbolic link between past and present.
