Kalafae, an air-conditioned riverside coffee shop in Kalasin

When talking about Kalasin, many people might think of dinosaurs or spicy Isan food. But for mr.hotsia, what impresses no less is “Kut Nam Kin,” a perfectly sized pond in downtown Kalasin that serves as both a public park and a relaxation area for locals. I arrived in Kalasin during a very hot period, and stopping by the cool air-conditioned coffee shop “Kalafae” by Kut Nam Kin was a small happiness that recharged me very well.

Kalafae is not just an ordinary coffee shop. Besides offering a variety of drinks, including fresh coffee and cold blended drinks like the cappuccino frappe I ordered, it also provides free WIFI for relaxed Facebook browsing. There is also an outdoor seating area by the pond where you can enjoy beautiful views of Nam Kin and the atmosphere of Kalasin city at the same time. I noticed many locals come here for coffee, clearly making this place a small meeting point for the town’s people.

Another highlight of Kalafae that I like is their traditional Thai spa service. They offer herbal steam, body scrubs, and skin exfoliation treatments. I didn’t miss trying the Thai massage mixed with moringa oil, which was incredibly relaxing. This added a unique touch to my travel experience in Kalasin.

Lifestyle and Local Food of Kalasin

If you visit Kalasin, don’t forget to try the unique local dishes such as “Mum Kalasin,” which I tasted at Pa Tan’s restaurant near the Kalasin bus station. The Mum here is truly delicious, and the grilled chicken is also tasty. This place comes highly recommended by locals without hesitation. If interested, mr.hotsia has written about this in an article.Mum Kalasinas well.

Another option I recommend is strolling through the Kalasin night market. This market is located not far from the bus station inside a high-roofed building with shops lining the perimeter. It’s a very interesting new concept because both buyers and sellers are comfortable, protected from rain and excessive heat. Here you can taste authentic local food like “Khao Jee Kalasin,” fragrant grilled sticky rice dipped in egg, which I also really like. Travel and Atmosphere of Kalasin City

I traveled to Kalasin by bus from Ubon Ratchathani and stayed in downtown Kalasin, which is very convenient for a relaxed trip. Walking around the city is easy, and you get to see the genuine lifestyle of Kalasin people — from those exercising at Kut Nam Kin in the morning and evening, to the clean markets and local restaurants with spicy flavors that fit well with the city’s vibe.

Kut Nam Kin itself was my most frequent relaxation spot on this trip. Besides sipping cold coffee at Kalafae, I could stroll around the pond and enjoy the shady trees, which made me feel relaxed after tiring travel. For anyone who enjoys a comfortable riverside atmosphere like this, I highly recommend visiting here.

Summary of Experience from mr.hotsia

If you ask me which coffee shop in Kalasin impressed me the most, I would immediately say “Kalafae” by Kut Nam Kin. Besides serving great coffee and a cool atmosphere, it is a perfect resting spot to experience the local lifestyle of Kalasin city. Plus, they offer spa services to relax after traveling.

If you are planning to visit Kalasin, don’t forget to stop by Kut Nam Kin and Kalafae coffee shop. Also, be sure to try local dishes like Mum and Khao Jee at the night market. I guarantee you will have a complete travel experience with food, lifestyle, and comfort just like mr.hotsia has experienced.
