Breakfast of the Khon Muang Ban Niang Hill Tribe: Morning Market Walk with Delicious Curry and Fried Chicken

When talking about Phang Nga province, many might think of beautiful seas, numerous islands, or the famous Phang Nga Bay views. But for mr.hotsia, visitingPhang Ngathere is another exciting side: the lifestyle and breakfast of the Khon Muang hill tribe at Ban Niang, a small village hidden among mountains and rich nature.

Waking up early before dawn, I arrived at the Ban Niang Khon Muang morning market, a small market full of colors and authentic local atmosphere. The market gets lively from early morning as locals and tourists gather to find food and fresh ingredients for the new day.

Ban Niang market is not as large as city markets but has charm in its simplicity and warmth. I walked past stalls selling fresh vegetables, local fruits, and ready-to-eat dishes. The highlight is the variety of "khao kaeng" (curry rice) dishes made by locals, with rich, authentic flavors you won’t find elsewhere.

From the morning market walk, I chose hot steamed rice with curry options including green curry, fish kidney curry, and sour curry. The flavors are intense with local herbs and spices. Importantly, everything is freshly made and not overly seasoned, allowing the true taste of Southern Thai food to shine.

What impressed me most this meal was the "Ban Niang Fried Chicken," fried until the skin is crispy golden, fragrant with local spices and herbs. This fried chicken is different from what I’ve had in big cities because it uses fresh free-range chicken, carefully marinated with spices before deep-frying in hot oil until crispy outside and tender inside. Served with steamed rice and a special homemade dipping sauce, this breakfast became an unforgettable experience.

The atmosphere around the market is warm with locals chatting like family. Although I was a tourist, I was welcomed warmly and got to know the lifestyle and culture of the Khon Muang hill tribe closely, which made me understand and love Phang Nga even more.

Besides breakfast at Ban Niang market, Phang Nga has other interesting places to continue your journey, such asSweet Ko Yao Yaiwhere you can relax soaking in hot springs while enjoying the stunning view of Phang Nga Bay. If you want to try fresh seafood from the sea, this place is a must-visit.Khao Lak Fresh Seafood Marketwhich is another way of life of Phang Nga people worth seeing and tasting.

To get to Ban Niang, it’s easy to come viaTakuapa Bus StationorKuraburi Bus Stationwhich are main connection points of Phang Nga province, then take local transport to the village to experience the real lifestyle of the Khon Muang hill tribe.

If you love food and experiencing local culture, I, mr.hotsia, recommend visiting the Ban Niang morning market, seeing the Khon Muang hill tribe lifestyle, and tasting the special fried chicken here. I guarantee you will fall in love just like me.

If you want to see the fresh atmosphere and delicious breakfast of the Khon Muang Ban Niang hill tribe, you can watchthe video "Breakfast of the Khon Muang Ban Niang Hill Tribe: Morning Market Walk with Delicious Curry and Fried Chicken"which I personally filmed. It’s another way to take you to experience the real atmosphere from the field.
