Travel Joyfully in Nakhon Pathom, a Fascinating Transit City

Nakhon Pathom is a province many people usually just drive through on their way south without stopping. But for me, mr.hotsia, this was a great chance to fully explore this province because I believe Nakhon Pathom definitely has some hidden gems people overlook. The first thing that confirmed this feeling was the famous “Chinese Banquet” known for its full-flavored deliciousness that truly lives up to Nakhon Pathom’s reputation.

Nakhon Pathom Chinese Banquet: Authentic Deliciousness You Should Try

Chinese banquets in Nakhon Pathom are no joke. There are many famous restaurants at various price levels, but the special thing is that most of these places raise their own ducks, ensuring fresh ingredients and a rich flavor that locals love. Especially the restaurant"Maitri (Jiam) Restaurant"which I have tried and can say the authentic taste of Chinese banquets here truly lives up to the reputation. Talking with the owner and the banquet chefs helped me understand that to truly taste the authentic banquet flavor, you must eat it at dinner time. If it still tastes good then, it means the food was prepared and cooked with great care. There is also a secret about the host’s management: they have staff control the food serving to maintain the best taste and freshness.

Other Delicious Foods in Nakhon Pathom You Shouldn't Miss

Besides Chinese banquets, Nakhon Pathom also offers many other delicious dishes locals proudly recommend, such as “Red Pork and Crispy Pork Rice” from the famous restaurant"Nai Chua"This restaurant is very old and famous, with long queues all day. I had to be quite patient to try it because the first time I arrived, there were dozens of people in line. The next time I came early, they were already sold out. Honestly, this place is a classic of Nakhon Pathom that will surely impress anyone who tries it.

For those who love stir-fried duck basil, I recommend the restaurantNai NaeThis place has a signature dish of stir-fried duck basil with five-spice duck offal that I really like. The stir-fry is rich and spicy with a unique flavor from the duck offal. Getting there is easy: start from Malai Man Intersection towards Suphanburi, then turn left into a small alley about 200 meters to find the restaurant.

Lifestyle and Night Market in Front of the Buddha Shrine

Talking about the lifestyle of Nakhon Pathom people, I noticed that during the day, women here don’t go out much under the sun. But in the evening, the market in front of the Buddha shrine becomes a lively meeting point with many street food stalls gathered here. Anyone wanting to experience the true atmosphere of Nakhon Pathom locals must visit this market. I walked around and recorded a video to share, but I was too full from the Chinese banquet to eat more.

This market is a hub of delicious food where you can try sweets, savory dishes, and a variety of local foods. It’s another highlight that makes me want to come back many times.

Accommodation and Atmosphere in Nakhon Pathom

For accommodation, I stayed at “Well Hotel Nakhon Pathom,” located in the city center. The price was budget-friendly at just 650 baht for two people, including breakfast. Importantly, there is a late-night rice porridge restaurant inside the hotel. If you like late-night snacks, don’t miss this because Nakhon Pathom has many rice porridge shops open late, making it a true food city.

Additionally, this hotel offers massage and spa services for those who want to relax after traveling or a big meal.

Strolling and Exploring Nakhon Pathom

If you want to get to know Nakhon Pathom more deeply, I recommend walking around the city to see the real lifestyle, including the morning and night markets I mentioned earlier. Or if you want to experience full street food, check outthe Market in Front of the Buddha Shrine, Nakhon Pathomwhich impressed me the most.

For fried food lovers, I also recommend the excellent oyster omelet atNai Phom Oyster Omeletwhich also has an extraordinary taste.

Summary

For me, mr.hotsia, Nakhon Pathom is not just an ordinary transit city but a province full of outstanding local flavors, especially the seriously delicious Chinese banquets that I highly recommend. The red pork rice at Nai Chua requires patience for the queue, and the stir-fried duck basil at Nai Nae is another charm of this city. Nakhon Pathom also has a lively night market and budget-friendly accommodations suitable for all travelers. If you are planning to travel in Central Thailand, don’t forget to stop by Nakhon Pathom and enjoy the delicious food to your heart’s content.
