Eating Sea Crab at Hat Yao, the sea nomad lifestyle with white sandy beach in Trang

If you ask where in Trang mr.hotsia is impressed by fresh seafood with bold flavors and also gets to experience a beautiful, peaceful beach atmosphere, Hat Yao in Ko Libong Subdistrict, Kantang District is the answer I would not hesitate to give. This place is not only known for its fine white sand and clear blue sea but also as a source of large sea crabs freshly caught by locals and cooked right at the table for me and tourists to fully enjoy.

When mr.hotsia arrived at Hat Yao, the first feeling was the tranquility of a place that remains truly natural, with the scent of the sea mixed with cool breezes passing through the leaves. Looking far out, small fishing boats were returning to shore with fresh seafood. The highlight of this beach is its long stretch, perfect for leisurely walks or cycling.

Fresh Sea Crab Eating Experience at Hat Yao

What made mr.hotsia want to come back to Hat Yao again was the large sea crabs that locals catch around Ko Libong and prepare in various dishes, whether it’s fresh sweet crab roe or spicy stir-fried crab with curry powder that pairs perfectly with hot steamed rice. I took a walk around the small beachside market where locals sell seafood, mostly sea crabs, shrimp, shellfish, and squid caught fresh that morning.

mr.hotsia found a small beachside restaurant run by local villagers who cook with fresh ingredients. The stir-fried crab with curry powder here is unlike anywhere else because they use large sea crabs still full of roe, with a slightly spicy, sweet, and rich flavor served with a spicy seafood dipping sauce. Every bite is pure happiness for seafood lovers.

Travel and Surrounding Atmosphere of Hat Yao

For travelers wanting to experience Hat Yao in Ko Libong Subdistrict, it’s best to prepare in advance because getting here requires a ferry ride from Kantang to Ko Libong, which takes about 20-30 minutes. After that, continue by motorcycle or car for another 10-15 minutes to reach Hat Yao.

Along the way, mr.hotsia saw the simple and warm island lifestyle. Most houses are traditional mixed with nature. Locals go fishing and crab catching from early morning. Some make shell jewelry or sell small souvenirs, giving a feeling of escaping the city’s hustle and enjoying a simple and happy life.

Ko Libong and Trang from mr.hotsia’s Perspective

Trang is not only famous for caves and old towns but also has beautiful beaches and islands like Ko Libong and Hat Yao that I truly want everyone to experience. If anyone is interested in learning about and experiencing the sea nomad lifestyle and tasting fresh seafood, Hat Yao is a destination not to be missed.
