What caught my attention more than the food stalls or merchandise was the "sound of the phin" played by a blind wandering musician who performed with lively spirit. His delicate and unique phin playing made me stop and listen for hours until he finished. The atmosphere by the Mekong River, not far from this market, allowed me to rest my eyes on the beautiful limestone mountains on the Laos side stretching in a long row. This place combines peaceful natural beauty with the activities of the city’s people perfectly.
