Travel Chonburi: Bangsaen Pattaya with real experiences from mr.hotsia

My home is in Bang Bo, less than 40 kilometers from Chonburi city. Driving here often makes me feel like I have a second home. Chonburi with Bangsaen and Pattaya are places I visit frequently during Songkran and weekends because they are easily accessible from Bangkok—just one to two hours away. The beaches are crowded every weekend with both Thai and foreign tourists, especially Pattaya, which is full of foreigners on the beach and walking street.

Chonburi province is not just Bangsaen and Pattaya. There are other interesting districts like Ban Bueng, Nong Yai, Bang Lamung, Phan Thong, Phanat Nikhom, Si Racha, Sattahip, Ko Sichang, Ko Chan, Bo Thong, and more. But today, mr.hotsia will dive deep into my latest experiences traveling in Bangsaen and Pattaya, along with recommendations for restaurants and accommodations that impressed me.

Atmosphere and seafood at Pakarang Restaurant, Bangsaen

When talking about Bangsaen, everyone thinks of the sea and fresh seafood. I want to recommend Pakarang Restaurant located right on Bangsaen beach. I've eaten here many times and was impressed by both the taste and atmosphere. The restaurant is very large with a great seaside location, perfect for bringing elders or important guests. The seafood prices here are similar to other places in the area since they sell by the kilogram, but this place offers a higher level of quality and convenience.

I like to go in the late afternoon near dusk to enjoy both the bright blue sky before dark and the beautiful illuminated night atmosphere. I ordered fried snapper with fish sauce; the flavor was rich and intense, fresh with firm meat—perfect for true seafood lovers.Pakarang Restaurant, BangsaenIs a choice you should not overlook.

Pattaya: Wave Hotel and vibrant nightlife

After staying three nights in Pattaya in 2014, I must say Wave Hotel impressed me the most. It’s beachfront, with cool air conditioning, beautiful rooms, and food I really liked—especially the delicious lamb massaman curry. The hotel also has beautiful lighting that creates a romantic and very relaxing atmosphere.

Besides Wave Hotel, I also stayed at two other hotels in Pattaya. One of them is Siam Bayview Hotel, located in central Pattaya right next to Wave Hotel. The beach walk connects easily between them. The breakfast here is also delicious, especially the prawn curry which I loved, eaten with hot rice full of rich flavor.Prawn Curry at Siam Bayview HotelIs a dish I highly recommend trying.

Pattaya is not just about accommodation and the sea. The nightlife here is very lively. I walked the Pattaya Night Market walking street and experienced a diverse atmosphere with street food stalls, many beautiful women passing by, and tourists from many countries including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Westerners who enjoy chilling at various clubs. I also tried looking for a men's massage shop but honestly, there are so many that it was hard to choose.Pattaya nightlifeIs truly a unique experience unlike anywhere else.

Breakfast in Pattaya: Start your day deliciously

When it comes to breakfast in Pattaya, I recommend trying Siam Bayshore Hotel, located right at the pier to Ko Larn, the starting point of Pattaya walking street. The breakfast here offers a full range of Thai and international dishes. I even found fresh honeycomb available to pick and eat freely, which is rare and special for tourists who like something new.

In the evening, they offer an unlimited seafood grill buffet with a variety of wines to sip until you’re merry. Besides the buffet, the stir-fried holy basil with roasted duck I ordered was uniquely delicious.Delicious breakfast in Pattaya at Siam BayshoreIs another place I recommend trying.

Lifestyle and activities in Chonburi you shouldn’t miss

Chonburi is not just about the sea and hotels but also has fascinating local lifestyles such as frying Bang Bo pla salid fish, a local specialty. Bang Bo pla salid comes in two types: fragrant and regular. The fragrant type is fermented to develop a unique aroma. I once watched the frying process in Bang Bo and was amazed by the meticulous care of the makers.Video of Bang Bo pla salid fryingThat I recorded helps give a clearer picture.

For those who enjoy fishing and sea activities, Sattahip area is another very interesting spot. Bang Sare Beach, where I have fished, offers a truly chill seaside vibe.Watch fishing video at Bang Sare BeachFor fresh seafood lovers, I recommend Krua Baan Pa Joy in Sattahip, a secret restaurant I discovered and was very impressed with.Watch black squid video at secret Sattahip restaurantThe seafood here is truly fresh with bold flavors, like eating with family.

Accommodation in Chonburi: Various options for every budget

Chonburi offers many hotels and accommodations ranging from budget to luxurious 5-star hotels. I recommend booking through the links I’ve prepared below for a complete and convenient selection, whether in Pattaya, Bangsaen, or even Si Racha and Sattahip. I have stayed at many places and will gradually share my experiences such as:Breakfast at Wave Hotel, PattayaandBreakfast at The Bayview Hotel, PattayaEach place has its unique highlights and is worth exploring.

Summary

Chonburi, Bangsaen, and Pattaya are provinces that I, mr.hotsia, feel have their own charm—from convenient travel, fresh seafood, local lifestyles, to the lively nightlife in Pattaya. Every time I visit, I feel recharged and learn about diverse cultures from the people and places. If you’re looking for a nearby trip from Bangkok with sea, food, and atmosphere all in one, Chonburi is definitely a choice you won’t regret.
