Relax Corner Ban Bang Bo: The Relax Corner of mr.hotsia
Bang Bo, Samut Prakan is the starting point of many stories I, mr.hotsia, have experienced since childhood. My hometown is located along Ban Rakas Canal, the main Samrong Canal used by locals to farm the famous Pla Salid fish, known nationwide and exported abroad. The chubby Bang Bo Pla Salid, thriving in brackish water with red mites as their favorite food, is something I invite everyone to see the lifestyle and experience the peaceful rural life that is hard to find in big cities.
The Relax Corner I mention is my own resting spot at Ban Bang Bo, where I like to spend time after long trips relaxing with the surrounding nature. The sound of flowing water in the canal and the scent of moist earth carried by the breeze make me feel recharged. Such a place doesn't exist in the busy big city. It takes you back to simplicity filled with happiness.
Travel Experience and Riverside Lifestyle in Bang Bo
When talking about riverside markets in this area, one cannot miss the 150-year-old Bang Phli Old Market, not far from Bang Bo. This ancient market along Samrong Canal still firmly preserves the original community identity.150-Year-Old Bang Phli MarketIt is a market I often visit to enjoy delicious food and observe the locals' lifestyle who still use boats as their main transportation and trade method, like stepping back to a time when boat travel was daily life.
Bang Bo itself is equally fun, with activities like fish trapping using the “Ai Ngo” trap, which I once competed in with friends.Annae On Tour at Bang BoThis traditional activity is popular among locals in shrimp fields and fish ponds. Trapping with the Ai Ngo requires skill and experience, which I learned and enjoyed, becoming one of my deepest memories with my hometown.
Bang Bo Pla Salid: Community Pride and Unique Flavor
Bang Bo Pla Salid is the finest product I proudly present because it’s not just fish but the result of local wisdom passed down for generations. I grew up swimming in the canals and playing with these fish, understanding why our Pla Salid are plump and firm. The key reason is the brackish water with red mites as natural food, giving the fish a sweet, rich flavor and firm texture.
In the past, locals made fish ponds in the lowest parts of rice fields called “Teen Na” or dug ponds around fields to keep fish safe. Raising Pla Salid is closely tied to local life and provides stable income for many families. Although rice fields have decreased, Pla Salid farming continues and has made Bang Bo Pla Salid famous not only locally but also nationwide and internationally.
Snacking and Relaxing Corner at Ban Bang Bo
If you visit Bang Bo, don’t forget to try local dishes I really like, such as the Spicy Holy Basil Stir-fry, a recipe I personally developed using Thai herbs and seasonings from my hometown.Spicy Holy Basil Sauce by Mr.hotsiaThis sauce helps you taste authentic holy basil with unique spicy heat and aroma.
Additionally, Bang Bo has small riverside restaurants serving both traditional Thai food and fresh seafood from local fishermen. Dining while enjoying the canal breeze here reminds me of the simple life many seek. Bang Bo is like arelax cornerfor those wanting to escape the hustle and experience true peace and nature.
