Enjoy Spicy Basil + Hearty Noodles Before Visiting Mom in Bang Bo, mr.hotsia style

When it comes to Samut Prakan, many might think of urban development and city bustle, but for me, mr.hotsia, “Bang Bo” is a place full of memories, lifestyle, and uniquely spicy flavors. Today, I will take you to taste a special menu I call “Enjoy Spicy Basil + Hearty Noodles” before driving to visit my mom at home in Bang Bo, my hometown.

Bang Bo is a small district full of charm with the riverside lifestyle of Samrong locals and the famous Bang Bo salted fish heritage known nationwide. If you have read my article aboutBang Bo Salted Fishyou will understand that the Samrong canal and brackish water in Bang Bo help the salted fish grow plump and have a sweet, rich flavor famous everywhere.

Starting at “Spicy Basil Saji” – mr.hotsia’s favorite restaurant

I personally love spicy stir-fried basil that is hot, fragrant with strong basil aroma, not watery, and absolutely no long beans to spoil the taste. Whenever I find long beans in my basil stir-fry, I feel it’s not the real basil dish for me. I have shared this inSpicy Basil Sauce Clipthat when I was a child, I used to pound chili for my dad’s basil stir-fry at home in Bang Bo. Dad would add kaffir lime peel and some Thai herbs into the basil mixture, giving it a unique deep aroma and flavor.

Today, I chose to stop bySpicy Basil Sajiwhich I also own. This restaurant aims to make authentic basil stir-fry as I like it: spicy, fragrant, and intensely flavorful to truly satisfy. I recommend the minced pork basil dish with a special sauce I developed. This sauce is now also available as a ready-made product for everyone to buy and cook at home (order details inthis clip)

Hearty Tom Yum Noodles That Complete mr.hotsia’s Meal

After fueling up with spicy basil, I headed to Hearty Tom Yum Noodles, a beloved spot for locals in Bang Bo and travelers like me. The tom yum noodles here are not only spicy but also perfectly balanced with sweet and sour flavors. The broth is rich and flavorful, so good you’ll want to finish every drop. I love that it’s loaded with pork slices, minced pork, fish balls, and fresh vegetables, giving every bite a variety of textures. Adding chili powder and lime juice makes it even more satisfying.

Lifestyle and Nearby Old Market Atmosphere Worth Visiting

If you visit Bang Bo, don’t forget to stroll aroundBang Phli 150-Year-Old Old Marketwhich is not far from my home. This old wooden market by the Samrong canal still preserves the traditional riverside lifestyle of the locals. The market is full of various food and goods, including fabric shops, traditional medicine shops, local healers, and old-fashioned grocery stores. I often visit this market to find fresh ingredients and seasonings before heading back to Bang Bo.

Why I Love Bang Bo? The Salted Fish Story to Share

Bang Bo is not only about spicy basil and hearty noodles but also proud of its salted fish raised in the brackish water of the Samrong canal. Bang Bo salted fish has a sweet, rich flavor and firmer texture than anywhere else. I shared in an articleBang Bo Salted Fishthat my family used to farm rice and raise salted fish in traditional ponds around the fields. The fish fed on red worms, their favorite food, making them plump and delicious.

Summary of the Experience: Enjoying Spicy Basil + Hearty Noodles Before Visiting Mom

For me, mr.hotsia, eating basil stir-fry with hometown flavors and spicy tom yum noodles before visiting my mom in Bang Bo fills me with happiness and strength. It’s not just about food; it’s a connection to my hometown, local lifestyle, and the flavors I’ve remembered since childhood.

If you want to try this experience yourself, I recommend visiting Samut Prakan and stopping by the Bang Phli 150-Year-Old Old Markethereto stroll and enjoy the local lifestyle, then taste the spicy basil and hearty tom yum noodles I proudly present. Or if you want to try making it at home, you can order the spicy basil sauce from me.
