Hotels in Hà Giang Province, Vietnam: Comfort in this small town

If you ask mr.hotsia where to stay in Hà Giang Province, Vietnam, it's not difficult because this town offers a full range of accommodation options in terms of price and quality. Especially in Hà Giang city center, which is the provincial hub, there are about 10-20 hotels to choose from, costing around 35,000 VND per night, or about 600 THB only. This is very affordable and worth it compared to the comfort you get.

For mr.hotsia, I chose to stay atHoang Anh hotelA hotel located in the heart of the city. Just a few steps from the hotel, you can reach the morning market and dinner restaurants, making it very convenient to find food and daily necessities. Importantly, this hotel has cool air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi that works very well, which is essential for modern travelers.

They also offer laundry services at affordable prices, which mr.hotsia used throughout the stay, so there was no worry about dirty clothes during the trip in Hà Giang. Although the town is small, the hotel service standards are quite good.

Atmosphere and amenities at Hà Giang hotels

What I noticed is that most hotels in Hà Giang do not offer massage or karaoke services like in bigger cities, but that’s not a problem because this town focuses on peace and closeness to nature. mr.hotsia thinks this is the charm of Hà Giang that truly makes you feel relaxed.

Unlike other border towns that clearly blend Chinese culture, even though Hà Giang is only 25 kilometers from the Chinese border, I hardly saw any Chinese people in town. From brief conversations with locals, it seems that northern Vietnamese in this area have a distinct feeling towards Chinese people, but mr.hotsia does not delve deeply into this because I want travelers to experience the atmosphere naturally.

Strolling and experiencing life around the hotel

When it comes to staying in Hà Giang city center, what impressed me most was walking around the hotel and the nearby morning market, which is very close.Hà Giang Morning MarketIt is an indoor market that is not crowded, offering a wide variety of fresh produce and local food. Just a few minutes’ walk across a small river from Hoang Anh hotel, the small market in front of the shops is where I like to buy boiled corn, said to be the best in the province.

This market doesn’t just sell food but also clearly reflects the lifestyle of the Tai people and Vietnamese locals in the area, such as selling fresh beef legs. I tried it and can say the beef here is tender and fragrant, truly a favorite dish of the locals.

Food and atmosphere around the hotel in Hà Giang

When staying here, food is another joy that mr.hotsia recommends. In the morning, walk to the morning market where there is a variety of food to choose from, including rice porridge, grilled pork, or local dishes that are hard to find elsewhere.

For the main lunch meal, it’s usually a single-dish meal similar to rice with curry, with rice and side dishes you can pick as you like. For dinner, if you want a chill atmosphere, I recommend a draft beer place calledBong ThinLocated on a cliff edge in the city, most of the food here is local, such as mixed fermented pork which you won’t find in other Vietnamese cities. I tried it and really liked it, along with cheap and tasty draft beer, making dinner here an experience not to miss.Read more about food in Hà Giang
