Pho President Hà Nội: A deeply historic deliciousness
If you are a fan of Vietnamese food or have heard of “Pho,” the world-famous noodle soup dish from Hà Nội, the capital of Vietnam, where I, mr.hotsia, often visit, today I will share my firsthand experience from a famous restaurant and the interesting stories I encountered here. That restaurant isPho Presidentlocated near the roundabout in the heart of Hà Nội
This is not just an ordinary pho restaurant; it is said that former U.S. President Bill Clinton once stopped by to taste the food here, which made this restaurant famous beyond just regular tourists. After President Clinton’s visit, the restaurant was renamed “Pho President” in honor of his visit.
I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to experience the atmosphere and taste the pho at this restaurant in March 2012. The pho here is excellent, fragrant with carefully prepared spices, the broth simmered to a deep flavor, the noodles soft and chewy just right, and the beef fresh and in large slices. However, I must say that the prices here are considerably higher than typical pho restaurants in Hà Nội. It’s not a place for frequent visits, but if you come to Hà Nội and want to try something special that a world-famous figure once enjoyed, I recommend trying it at least once in your life.

Hà Nội is a city I, mr.hotsia, have visited many times, and each time there are always new stories to discover. For those who have been to southern Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City and might feel the atmosphere there is bustling and lively like Pattaya, Hà Nội has its own unique charm. This capital city is full of history, traditional lifestyles, and streets that still clearly carry the northern Vietnamese atmosphere.
After tasting pho atPho President restaurantand strolling around the roundabout, I also enjoy exploring local markets and street food stalls in the Phố Huỳnh Thúc Kháng area, which offers authentic local food and cultural atmosphere. Watching people sitting to eat pho or sip Vietnamese coffee on the sidewalk in the morning is a scene that, for me, mr.hotsia, makes Hà Nội lively and memorable.

For traveling to Hà Nội, I, mr.hotsia, recommend using regional airlines, or if coming from neighboring countries like Laos, you can fly directly to Hà Nội airport conveniently. I have used Lao Airlines, with fares around 4,000 baht per trip. To get into the city from the airport, I like taking bus number 17 because it is economical and convenient. After soaking in the delicious food and atmosphere in Hà Nội, I recommend continuing your journey to other provinces in northern Vietnam.
