Exploring Tuy Hoa City, Phú Yên Province – Southern Vietnam you must experience yourself
Hello, I am mr.hotsia. I had the opportunity to visit Tuy Hoa City, the capital of Phú Yên Province, located in the south-central coastal region of Vietnam. This time, I will share my genuine experiences from this city straightforwardly so that fellow adventurous travelers can get a clear picture and prepare fully to follow my footsteps.
Journey South to Tuy Hoa
I took a bus from Qui Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, to Tuy Hoa, covering about 100 kilometers. The trip took around two hours, costing 60,000 dong per person. Traveling along the main coastal road allowed me to see the sea views and fishing villages on both sides. The bus passed a large intersection where motorbike drivers waited to pick up tourists into the city, charging 50,000 dong (about 80 baht). I felt this was too expensive, so I walked about 2 kilometers into the city instead.
Overview of Tuy Hoa City and Its Atmosphere
Tuy Hoa is a city formed from the sediment of the Đà Rằng River, giving it a wide flat area with a population of about 200,000 (data from 2012). I was impressed that the city has two prominent mountains near its center: Chóp Chài and Nhạn. Especially Nhạn Mountain, which has an ancient Cham temple at its summit. This spot is a viewpoint I highly recommend because it offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Đà Rằng River.
Additionally, Tuy Hoa has fine white sandy beaches that are popular relaxation spots for locals and tourists. Although not as bustling as larger cities, the peacefulness and preserved natural environment make this city ideal for those wanting to escape the hustle and seek a truly relaxing atmosphere.
Food in Tuy Hoa – Nem Nuong and Civet Coffee You Must Try
Regarding food here, I recommend tryingAuthentic Vietnamese Nem Nuongwhich I tasted and found very delicious, fresh, and served with plenty of vegetables. Anyone who loves authentic Vietnamese flavors should not miss this. As for the fried sticky rice with shredded pork sold on city streets, I suggest skipping it because the taste was not quite right.
For seafood by the Đà Rằng River, there are restaurants where you choose shrimp, crab, shellfish, or fish in baskets to be weighed and sold by the kilo. Prices are somewhat higher than in Thailand but it is an interesting experience for fresh seafood lovers.
Another favorite of mine is civet coffee. There is a civet coffee shop here where the owner is dedicated and wanted me to take some home. It costs 150 baht per cup. I tried it and felt the coffee here has a slightly sour taste and is not very strong. If interested, you can read more atCivet CoffeeThank you.
Must-Do Activities in Tuy Hoa
I spent one day in Tuy Hoa walking around the city and climbing Nhạn Mountain to see the ancient Cham pagoda. From this point, you can enjoy beautiful views of the city and the flowing river. For those who love nature and history, I recommend visiting. Also, strolling through the small but lively city center with restaurants and coffee shops scattered around is enjoyable.
For those wanting to stay in the city, I recommend the hotel where I stayed:Khach San Quynh Hoa HotelAn old hotel that has been renovated, with air conditioning, hot water, and internet. Although the internet speed is not very fast, it is sufficient for general use. You can book by calling 0573823401.
Summary of Impressions and Recommendations from mr.hotsia
Tuy Hoa is another city I consider suitable for those seeking an authentic Vietnamese experience, not a large tourist city crowded with foreigners. It offers a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and delicious food, especially nem nuong and civet coffee, which are highlights here.
However, traveling and living in this city still rely on walking or scarce motorbike taxis, and some prices may be higher than expected, such as seafood by the river. Therefore, anyone planning to visit should carefully plan expenses and routes.
For those who enjoy deep travel and independent journeys, try visiting Tuy Hoa in Phú Yên Province. You will experience a different side of Vietnam than what is usually seen in common reviews.
Thank you for following mr.hotsia's work. See you again on the next trip.
