The tunnels were used by the National Liberation Front of Vietnam during the Indochina War and the Vietnam War. The tunnel system includes clinics, living quarters, kitchens, warehouses, offices, and an underground operational system extending about 200 km with ventilation. Located in the bushes, the Cu Chi Tunnels were built on land known as the 'Land of Iron' at the end of the Ho Chi Minh Trail during the Tet Offensive in 1968.
The National Liberation Front of South Vietnam used the tunnel system to launch attacks in Saigon.
