A small town with a low cost of living and not many tourists staying in the city. The two most popular foods here are Banh Xeo or Vietnamese crepes, and Vietnamese Banh Beo. Other dishes are very hard to find. You won’t find street curry rice, pho, or noodles. Mr. Hotsia stayed here for three nights, eating those two dishes every day. Also, when it rained, he didn’t go far. Right outside the hotel, there were restaurants like these on both sides.
I tried walking around and found grilled pork rice bowls for 30 baht each. Coffee shops in this town are very popular, with many shops side by side. The people of Phan Rang also like to drink coconut water. It’s expensive, not cheap, but they enjoy it. In this town, I ate vegetarian hot pot with only vegetables. It wasn’t very filling but there was no other choice because food was hard to find. Oh, this town sells Vietnamese chicken rice, but they never cut the chicken for you. If you want to eat it, you have to gnaw it yourself. At the night market opposite the hotel where I stayed, there is a pho noodle shop.
If you go eat at night, it’s delicious. During the day, don’t expect anything unusual; just eat Vietnamese Banh Beo.
