Washing Hair Travel News Battambang: A Unique Experience from mr.hotsia

When talking about washing hair on a trip, many might just think of personal hygiene, but for me, mr.hotsia, washing hair in Battambang this time turned into a unique experience I want to share.

Battambang, a border province of Cambodia, is a place I have passed through and captured many memorable moments. This time, I intentionally used the "Washing Hair Travel" method I have tried in several places like Mae Hong Son, Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam, and Laos. Now I tried it in Battambang, and the results were very interesting.

The hair wash here costs only 2 US dollars and offers a very unusual service. They don’t have you lie down to wash your hair as usual but wash it while you sit! They use little water and carefully massage the scalp while sitting before taking you to rinse and wash again on a specially arranged shampoo bed. I can say this was the first time in my life trying this method. It was both strange and relaxing in a different way.

Stop to Pay Respect to Luang Ta Dam Bong Dong Yuong: A Popular Destination for Thai Visitors

While waiting for my turn to wash hair, I heard from the hairdresser that many Thais visit Battambang, especially to pay respects atLuang Ta Dam Bong Dong Yuongor the giant statue holding a club, said to be sacred with many who make wishes claiming their requests are granted.

I didn’t miss this chance to take photos and capture the atmosphere to share with friends before continuing my journey to Pailin, which is not far away. Communication here is easy because most people in this border province speak Thai well. I felt like visiting a friend’s home, with no fear of getting lost or communication difficulties.

Lifestyle and Fresh Market in Battambang: A Unique City Walk

If you follow me, mr.hotsia, on trips to Battambang often, you’ll know I prefer walking around fresh markets rather than rushing by tuk-tuk. In Battambang’s market, you can truly experience local life rarely seen in Thailand. You’ll find a variety of goods, including fresh produce, fruits, and local foods with fragrant aromas. I love this atmosphere because it makes me feel truly connected to the city and its people.

Previously, I wrote a recommendation aboutFood in Battambangwhich is very worth trying, especially the sweet boiled fish rice porridge shop in the old market that I really like. The sweet boiled fish has a Thai-style flavor but is different from ours. It’s delicious and boneless, so no annoying bones. I ate two bowls and two plates of the fish, very satisfying.

Accommodation and Transportation: Convenient and Accessible

Accommodation in Battambang is quite interesting with various price ranges from a few hundred baht to mid-range hotels. I stayed atLux Guesthousea new, clean hotel with good service. The staff speaks some English, and the affordable price is just 8-12 USD per night. Very good value for travelers like me.

To travel here, Battambang can be easily accessed from Thailand via the Ban Phak Kad permanent border checkpoint in Chanthaburi Province, then take a bus or shared taxi to the city about 100 kilometers away. The roads are very good, no traffic jams, and there are also services to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Very convenient.

Wat Phnom Sampov: A Historical Site Worth Visiting

During my trip to Battambang, I also visitedWat Phnom Sampovan important site where tragic events occurred during the Khmer Rouge era. It has caves used for executions and later became a temple on the hilltop, with beautiful viewpoints offering a high-angle view of Battambang city.

Entrance fee is about 2 USD, including guide services with motorcycle rides up to the temple. Some guides speak Thai. I usually recommend choosing a Thai-speaking guide for better understanding and more fun.

Local Sweets and Desserts: Try Khmer Sticky Rice and Giant Bualoy

When it comes to sweets, I, mr.hotsia, recommend tryingKhmer Sticky Rice Dessertor what they call "Khnom On Son," which is quite different from ours because it contains no sugar or coconut milk. The taste is rather bland, but the soybean filling is fragrant and creamy. Another favorite of mine is the giant bualoy filled with red beans, served with shaved ice and ros dong syrup, sweet and refreshing.

These desserts are often found at rest stops or small dessert shops along the route from Battambang to Phnom Penh or Kampong Chhnang. I have tried many times and liked them so much I want to recommend friends to try them too.

Summary of Hair Washing and Battambang Travel Experience with mr.hotsia

Battambang is not just a border town near Thailand but a city full of interest, including local lifestyle, fresh markets, local food, and sacred places popular with Thai visitors. Plus, new experiences like sitting hair washing that I have never encountered anywhere else.
