Tajin Morocco, a city where Chinese beauty and culture blend perfectly.
When talking about China, many people probably think of bustling big cities or famous tourist attractions, but for me, mr.hotsia, experiencing "Tajin Morocco" was a unique and impressive experience. Tajin is not a province well known to Thai people, but it holds an authentic Chinese charm combined with an atmosphere reminiscent of Morocco, similar to its name. I want to sincerely share this story with everyone.
Strolling through Tajin's lively market district
Upon arriving in Tajin, the first thing I did was walk through the morning market, a hub of local people and culture. This market is not just about selling goods; it is filled with the aroma of food and spices that greet your nose. The morning market in Tajin is similar toSuphanburi Morning Marketwhich I have visited before, full of fresh natural products and food freshly made right before your eyes. I saw dozens of pig heads lined up alongside intensely flavored fermented fish that reminded me of markets back home in Thailand.
Famous dishes with unique flavors
Tajin is known for its diverse and well-balanced flavors, especially the eel dishes that are as famous as those in Tanghua Province, which I have described in an articleEnjoying Eel in Tanghua ProvinceSmall eels here are prepared in various ways, whether stir-fried eel noodles or curry with fermented fish and raw bananas. It was an unforgettable experience for those who love trying new things. For me, mr.hotsia, I tried stir-fried instant noodles with fresh, sweet eel. It was so delicious I had to order another plate.
Tajin and the cultural connection between China and Morocco
The name "Tajin Morocco" might make many wonder if there is a connection to Morocco. I was curious too and found that this city has an old district blending Chinese architectural style with colors and patterns resembling Chefchaouen city in Morocco, which I have written about in an articleChinese Tea, Local Moroccan Food (Morocco), Beautiful City Chefchaouen, Morocco AttractionsWalking in this district felt like traveling across cultures, making me feel as if I was exploring two worlds at once.
Must-try dishes: Beggar's Chicken and Zhengxin Chicken Steak
Besides the eel, which is Tajin's signature, I, mr.hotsia, also tasted Beggar's Chicken, locally called “叫化鸡” (jiàohuā jī), a stuffed chicken wrapped in clay and leaves, then slowly baked with great care. The tender, juicy chicken infused with spices is unforgettable. There is also Zhengxin Chicken Steak or 正新鸡排, selling large pieces of fried chicken with rich flavors and fragrant Chinese spices, perfect for those who love crispy and spicy fried food.I have recorded a clip on YouTubefor you to watch.
Lifestyle and travel in Tajin
Traveling in Tajin is not as convenient as in big cities. Finding public transport or taxis requires negotiation skills and observation. However, walking through the small alleys made me, mr.hotsia, feel close to the people and see their real way of life — from street vendors, roadside cooking, to friendly conversations.
If you enjoy deep cultural travel and authentic local flavors, Tajin Morocco is a destination I highly recommend.
