Backpacking India 125/129: Gathering to Eat with Thai Brothers in India, Walking Around Thai Houses Listening to Ancient Thai Music
If you have followed my travel works, mr.hotsia, for a long time, you might know that India for me is not just a wondrous country full of vibrant colors and diverse cultures, but also a land where I meet Thai brothers in ways you can't find anywhere else in the world. In this trip “Backpacking India 125/129,” I intend to take friends to gather and eat with Thai brothers living in India and walk around Thai houses that still retain the true essence of ancient Thai culture.
The story of this journey began with searching for Thai brothers in India who, despite being far from their homeland, still firmly hold on to their Thai cultural roots. I remember that day the weather was not as hot as expected. Although the sun was strong, a cool breeze made it refreshing. We sat in a circle eating with our hands joyfully. The food prepared by the brothers included hot steamed rice and spicy curry that reminded me of the authentic flavors of home, even though we were on opposite sides of the world.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and conversations blending Thai with local Indian languages harmoniously. That moment reminded me of a previous trip to Bangalore, where I experienced the lifestyle of a modern Indian city full of large shady trees.Read the story of Backpacking Bangalorethat I have shared before
After being full and satisfied from eating together, the Thai brothers took mr.hotsia to walk around a Thai house located in the middle of an Indian city. This house looked like it came straight from Thailand with its gable roof and intricately carved wooden pillars. What was more special was the sound of ancient Thai music echoing from speakers inside the house. Those melodies took me back to the atmosphere of temple fairs or traditional festivals in various provinces of Thailand.
Walking around the house and listening to ancient Thai music allowed me to absorb the cultural bond that Thai brothers in India have preserved excellently. Although far from their homeland, they still truly love their birthplace.
Another impression I received was exchanging stories and experiences of living in India with Thai brothers. Some came to work, some settled down, and some came to study, but all are determined to preserve Thai culture and language from fading away over time.
If anyone is interested in learning more about the lives of Thai brothers in India, mr.hotsia recommends watching the video clips I recorded on this trip. You will see the warmth and fun we shared together.Click to watch the video “Backpacking India 125/129”
Towards the end of the journey, I also had the opportunity to talk with locals and explore the lifestyle around that Thai house, which reminded me of temples and sacred places in India such as “Buddha Park” or the Samdruptse Statue that I visited during my travels.Exploring Nam Chias well, which is a place reflecting faith and culture that both Thai and Indian people can understand and connect with.
As I traveled through various cities in India, I learned that the best travel is not just about seeing new places but experiencing the lifestyle of the people there, eating local food, and genuinely exchanging cultures. That is what makes a journey meaningful and memorable forever.
I, mr.hotsia, leave this article as another travel record full of warmth from Thai brothers in India, hoping friends will be inspired to backpack and experience something unique that cannot be found anywhere else.
