Backpacking Bangalore 2/17: Breakfast at a 3-Star Hotel in Bangalore, India
Hello, I am mr.hotsia. Today, I will take you to experience breakfast at a 3-star hotel in Bangalore, the famous technology city of India, also known as the “Silicon Valley of South Asia.” Bangalore is not only known for software and IT offices but also has a fascinating city life and many interesting local foods.
Early morning in Bangalore, I chose to stay at a 3-star hotel not far from the city center for convenient travel and to truly experience the local lifestyle. The room was clean and airy, and what I looked forward to most was the breakfast here. Breakfast at Indian hotels often blends local dishes with Western-style food perfectly.
Upon entering the hotel dining room, the first thing that caught my eye was the simple atmosphere—not luxurious but warm. The staff greeted me with friendly smiles. Breakfast was served buffet style, including Indian rice porridge calledupmawhich is made from semolina flour mixed with spices and fresh vegetables. It has a mild flavor and feels very comforting.
Additionally, there were toasted breads to enjoy with jam and butter, as well as freshly made fried and scrambled eggs. I ordered a medium rare fried egg served with rich tomato sauce. They didn’t just serve black coffee but also Masala Chai tea, full of fragrant spices, which is a national drink I equally love.
Another dish I really liked was chicken biryani orBiryaniThe breakfast version here was not too heavy. The aroma of spices absorbed into the chicken and jasmine rice awakened me fully to a new morning in Bangalore.
Breakfast at this 3-star hotel felt like eating at an Indian friend’s home, plus I got to taste truly unique local flavors. This experience made me understand more that Bangalore is not just a tech city but also has diverse and fascinating food culture.

If you want to know more about different sides of Bangalore, I recommend readingBackpacking Bangalore (Bengaluru)that I wrote to get a broader picture of this charming city.
After a full meal, I went out to experience the street atmosphere filled with people of various ethnicities and cultures. I saw fruit vendors on carts and smelled spices from roadside eateries still lingering in the air. This is the charm of Bangalore that you cannot find just inside the hotel.
For those planning to visit India and interested in deeply experiencing city life, I recommend staying at a 3-star hotel in Bangalore. The price is reasonable compared to the quality, and the breakfast here will energize you to start your day fully ready for more adventures.
