Backpacking Northern India 32/45: Walk around Delhi

My journey in India started vibrantly in Delhi, the capital city full of diversity and cultural vitality. Northern India was my intended destination, but Delhi became the city that deepened my understanding of India. It is not just a large, densely populated city, but a hub of daily life, urban lifestyles, and bustling markets that kept me walking endlessly.

I strolled through the historic area of Old Delhi, filled with narrow alleys, local shops, and markets fragrant with spices. From the fiery hot chicken biryani that I had to eat quickly before it cooled, to the colorful spice shops that made me stop and take photos, and the bargaining voices of vendors that brought the atmosphere to life just like in the video.Walk around DelhiThat I recorded

While walking, I stopped to taste traditional Northern Indian street food such aschole bhaturesoft chickpeas served with crispy fried bread, rich and flavorful. No need for anything complicated; these simple foods made me feel much closer to the life of Delhi residents.

Delhi is a city of clear contrasts. You can see the beauty of colonial architecture blended with modern skyscrapers, and at the same time, tiny alleys that seem to take you back to ancient times. I enjoyed walking through these small streets because they reminded me of other Indian cities I have visited, such as Bengaluru, the technology city with shady parks and a completely different atmosphere.Read more about Backpacking Bengaluruor Mumbai, the port city full of history and cultural diversityBackpacking Mumbai

One thing that impressed me in Delhi was the liveliness of the night markets. These markets are not just places to shop but social spaces where people gather. A variety of foods line up from street food to sweets likejalebiwhich is sweet, juicy, crispy outside and soft inside. I walked into the crowded Chandni Chowk market surrounded by shops selling jewelry, silk fabrics, and various goods that made me feel like I had stepped into another world.

Traveling in Delhi may seem challenging for those unfamiliar with the chaotic culture, but for me, it was always a journey of new experiences. I remember once taking a tuk-tuk from the market to important city landmarks, feeling swept away by the wind and the city's never-ending hustle and bustle.

If you are planning to travel to Northern India, I recommend spending more time in Delhi than you think because it is the gateway to truly understanding Indian culture. And if you are interested in the in-depth travel experiences I have had, don't forget to check outthe Walk around Delhi videothat I recorded myself to see a clearer picture of real life in this city.

Finally, my journey in Northern India did not stop at Delhi because I have plans to explore many other places, such as Darjeeling, which I have documented inJourney to Darjeelingor other cities full of unique stories and charm.
