Authentic mutton biryani in Bengaluru, a technology city with a passion for food

When talking about Bengaluru in India, many people picture a city of technology and the Silicon Valley of South Asia filled with IT offices and a modern atmosphere. But for mr.hotsia, Bengaluru is much more than that, especially when it comes to food. I have to say, the "mutton biryani" here is authentic and a must-try!

I arrived in Bengaluru after tasting biryani in several Indian cities including Mumbai and Chennai. But Bengaluru stood out clearly. Besides being a clean city filled with large shady trees where you hardly need an umbrella in summer, the local food, especially mutton biryani sold at street stalls and traditional community restaurants, has a rich flavor and a distinct aroma of spices that is unforgettable.

Bengaluru's mutton biryani uses fresh goat meat marinated with a variety of spices including cumin, curry powder, turmeric, and cinnamon, blended perfectly before being cooked with fragrant basmati rice that has been washed and soaked just right. Every bite carries the aroma of spices and tender goat meat that almost melts in your mouth. mr.hotsia recommends eating it with a tangy sauce or Indian yogurt called "raita" to add freshness and cut through the richness of the meat perfectly.

Impressions from eating biryani in Bengaluru

Because Bengaluru is a city with a diverse population and cultures, the mutton biryani restaurants here range from traditional authentic styles to those adapted for modern tastes. I tried walking into small hidden shops in the alleys of the city and experienced a close community atmosphere with locals that made the meal even more memorable.

What mr.hotsia liked most was seeing the lifestyle of Bengaluru people who, despite being busy with IT work, still firmly preserve their food culture. Sometimes I strolled through the city’s parks filled with large trees and people out for walks or relaxation before heading to taste the famous mutton biryani spots known among food lovers.

This trip was not about IT but focused on food in Bengaluru

Actually, I came to explore Bengaluru’s IT hubs, but due to the city's size and complexity, I changed plans to focus on eating mutton biryani instead. It was a valuable experience that gave me deep insight into local culture. For more stories about the trip and the atmosphere of Bengaluru, you can readBackpacking Bengaluruwhich I wrote earlier.
