This is ancient Thai script in a Thai village in Assam state, India

Many may not have known that in India, especially in Assam, there is an ancient Thai community living, and they still firmly preserve the language written in ancient Thai script. I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to experience the lifestyle and culture of the Tai Pa Kae people in Nam Pha Kae Old Village, a small village hidden in the culturally and linguistically diverse land of Assam.

Traveling to this village is not easy because it is located in a remote area far from big cities. It requires travel time and contacting locals for guidance. I, mr.hotsia, chose to travel from Chennai to Assam via airport and then by local car drivers familiar with the route, which allowed me to see the clear changes in landscape and culture.

Nam Pha Kae Old Village is special because the elders still write records and narrate history in ancient Thai language, a language used for many generations. The villagers are proud of their roots despite being far from big cities and development. I, mr.hotsia, saw well-preserved archives and ancient inscriptions, which are the community's most valuable cultural treasures.

While chatting with the Tai Pa Kae people, I tasted local dishes made from fresh local ingredients such as fermented sticky rice with pla ra and various fresh vegetables, including an ancient chili paste recipe with a spicy yet balanced flavor. These foods reminded me of the simple yet profound rural lifestyle of our homeland. They also have beautiful handwoven silk crafts with unique patterns in the ancient Thai style.

Besides language and culture, I, mr.hotsia, also witnessed the beautiful natural scenery of Assam, including vast rice fields and small rivers flowing peacefully through the village. The fresh air completed the travel experience, like stepping back in time when language, knowledge, and art were continuously passed down.

For those interested in exploring Thai culture abroad, I recommend following the stories and videos I have made about the Tai Pa Kae people in Assam state, which will provide deeper understanding. This is ancient Thai script in a Thai village in Assam state, IndiaThis is a clip where I, mr.hotsia, have fully dedicated myself to conveying the truth from the field.

Another interesting aspect of this region is the harmonious cultural diversity. If anyone has read my articles about various cities in India, such asBackpacking BangaloreorBackpacking Chennai, Indiayou will see that every city has its own charm and uniqueness, but the Tai Pa Kae community in Assam is another dimension of India that few know and experience.

The Tai Pa Kae community in Assam still holds traditional festivals and rituals, such as the annual merit-making event with singing and dancing in the ancient Thai style, as well as religious ceremonies reflecting deep-rooted beliefs and faith in the older generation. This made me, mr.hotsia, feel like I traveled through time and experienced the pure and strong Thai identity far from home.

When talking about traveling in India, I often recommend choosing cities or communities with diversity, such as traveling toDarjeelingwhich has beautiful nature, or big cities likeMumbaiwhich has a long history, and you will clearly see a lifestyle different from the Tai Pa Kae community in Assam.

Finally, visiting the Tai Pa Kae village in Assam was a new world for me, mr.hotsia, showing that Thai language and culture do not stop in Thailand but live and grow in distant lands like India. Seeing the dedication of the older generation preserving ancient Thai script made me deeply grateful and eager to share this story with everyone.
