Travel to Bali with mr.hotsia: Experience real life on Indonesia's Hindu island

Bali... a name that instantly evokes images of the sea, waves, and simple yet charming culture. I, mr.hotsia, have traveled to Bali many times on my own and want to share firsthand experiences from the field for friends to read—without exaggeration or fluff like typical articles.

Routes and Travel to Bali

If you plan to visit Bali on your own, I recommend booking flights in advance through low-cost airlines like AirAsia, which often have great promotions. Return flights tend to be slightly more expensive than departures. Don't forget to budget an additional airport tax of about 500-600 baht, which is a rule at Indonesian airports. For those wanting to fly onward from Bali to other Indonesian cities like Jakarta or connect via Malaysia, airlines such as Lion Air, Jetstar, Citilink, or Garuda Air are good and convenient options. Booking through their websites is easy.

Bali is located south of the Java islands. Getting here is not difficult. Sometimes I have taken a ferry from Banyuwangi at the tip of Java directly across the sea to Bali, which takes about one hour. This route is an interesting experience because you get to see the local way of life along the way.Traveling from Bali's Denpasar Airport to the Cityis very convenient with options like car rentals and taxis available to suit your needs.

Lifestyle and Culture in Bali

Bali is not just about beautiful beaches or Indian Ocean waves; it is an island rich with deep and fascinating Hindu culture. The people here are very religious. Every home has a private, intricate, and beautiful shrine. Some large homes even have what feels like a private temple. I, mr.hotsia, especially enjoy seeing Balinese people placing offering trays at their doorsteps, along streets, and at temples—an uncommon sight elsewhere that truly makes you feel connected to the real life of the locals.

I have recommended trying the local buses in Bali. Although renting a car or taxi is more convenient, buses offer a clearer view of local life. If you have enough time, you will see another side of Bali beyond the usual tourist spots.

Balinese Food: Familiar and Perfect Flavors

Personally, I love Balinese food because its flavors are close to the Thai cuisine we know, thanks to similar geography. Ingredients like chili, coconut, and others make Balinese dishes rich and balanced, much like Southern Thai food. I especially enjoy Balinese-style satay.sate kambingor goat satay that is fragrant and tender, served with a thick sweet dipping sauce so delicious you'll want to order many sticks. The price is very affordable—about 45 baht for 10 sticks. Additionally, there issate ayamchicken satay that is tender and inexpensive at just 30 baht per set (excluding rice). Ordering it with rice and soup enhances the meal's flavor and makes it even more complete.Read more about Balinese cuisine

Traveling in Bali: Cities, Temples, and Nature You Must Visit

Bali is not only about beaches and culture. Cities likeUbudare centers of Balinese art and culture that I, mr.hotsia, enjoy strolling through to see crafts and local markets filled with beautiful items. You also get to witness authentic Balinese life here.

Another must-visit place isUluwatu Templea Hindu temple perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. It offers stunning ocean views with strong waves and is a fantastic spot to watch the sunset, surrounded by a sacred Balinese atmosphere.

Travel and Tourism Experiences I Want to Share

I, mr.hotsia, want to say that traveling to Bali on your own is fun and challenging. It feels like discovering something new every day—from straightforward travel with many airline options to convenient city transport, all infused with the charm of local culture and traditions.

Don't forget to try the local bus to experience real Balinese life, or rent a car for convenience. There are many routes to explore around the island. Also, local markets are interesting places to taste food and buy local products to take home.

For photography lovers, I recommend walking through villages or lakesides with wide skies and beautiful natural light. If you want a deeper understanding of Bali, watch videos I have filmed such asBali Sacred SpringorIndonesian Farmers Planting Rice on Bali Islandto gain more insight into the local way of life.

Summary

Bali is not just an ordinary tourist island; it is a place where you can experience authentic Hindu culture, see local lifestyles, and enjoy delicious, familiar food like at home. I, mr.hotsia, believe that if you visit Bali on your own, you will fall in love and want to return. Remember to plan your trip well, choose the right airline, book tickets in advance for the best prices, and keep an open mind to new experiences along the way.
