The Plain of Jars is an archaeological site filled with hundreds of large stone jars dating back over a thousand years. I must emphasize this seriously because Xieng Khouang still has many unexploded bombs that have not been cleared. Along the electric golf cart route to the Plain of Jars, you will see officials working on bomb disposal. These bombs are not to be taken lightly. Do not walk off the path under any circumstances, and never urinate or venture deep into the forest without a guide, as it can be extremely dangerous.

The Plain of Jars I mentioned is not just one site but consists of three main groups. The first group is the largest, with about 250 jars, located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of Phonsavan. Each jar weighs between 600 kilograms and 1 ton, with the largest weighing up to 6 tons.

The second group is about 25 kilometers south of Phonsavan, with around 90 jars. The third group is about 10 kilometers further from the second group (or 35 kilometers from Phonsavan) and contains about 150 jars.
