Bueng Khong Long Kham Somboon Beach: A paradise for anglers and riverside relaxation in Bolikhamxay Province
Hello dear readers, I ammr.hotsiataking you to experience the natural atmosphere of Bueng Khong Long in Bolikhamxay Province, Laos. I had the chance to visit personally and found it to be a place not to be overlooked. For those who love fishing or just want a peaceful freshwater beach to relax, Kham Somboon Beach is a perfect destination.
Bueng Khong Long is a natural lake stretching 16 kilometers long and about 2 kilometers wide at its widest point, measured by myself using Google Earth satellite maps. The lake is not very deep, with a maximum depth of only 3 wa (about 6 meters), making it ideal for fishing and safe swimming activities. I arrived at Kham Somboon Beach, a beach zone open for comfortable swimming, lined with karaoke bars and restaurants serving tourists and locals in the area.
Atmosphere and Activities at Kham Somboon Beach
On the day I visited, the atmosphere at Kham Somboon Beach was very chill. Locals came to swim, eat, and sip cold beer, mixed with laughter and soft karaoke music from the beachside shops. I randomly entered one shop and ordered traditional Lao food. Meanwhile, I saw people fishing by the lake. I didn’t hesitate and quickly grabbed a fishing rod to join them. The fish here bite bait easily; just dropping the line in the water would catch a fish. It’s a simple fun experience rarely found in big cities.
Kham Somboon Beach also features a highlight: the majestic Phu Wua mountain standing nearby. This provides a beautiful and sharp backdrop when sitting or taking photos by the lake, enhancing a truly peaceful and relaxing feeling. I recommend everyone who has the chance to visit Bueng Khong Long to stop by here once to experience the simple, friendly riverside lifestyle of Lao villagers.
Travel and Accommodation Nearby
Kham Somboon Beach is about 10 kilometers from Bueng Khong Long district town. Bueng Khong Long itself is a small town where I tried to find accommodation but found it scarce and difficult. So I decided to drive on to Seka district, which is not far, to find more comfortable lodging. If you plan to travel to Bueng Kan Province, don’t forget to visit.Seka Districtwhich offers more tourist attractions and accommodations.
For travelers interested in going to Pakxan town on the Laos side, adjacent to Bueng Kan Province in Thailand, this area has well-connected transportation. You can check travel details fromPakxan Transportwhich will help make your trip planning more convenient and complete.
Bueng Khong Long in the Context of Bueng Kan Province
Bueng Kan Province is a newly separated province from Nong Khai, known for its peaceful and simple lifestyle. Most houses are old wooden structures, with a lively main road and a beautiful Mekong riverside. Although the province seems quiet, it has many interesting tourist spots such as Phu Thok and Bueng Khong Long, which I just introduced to everyone.
Therefore, Bueng Khong Long is one of the places I, mr.hotsia, highly recommend visiting, especially if you enjoy fishing and want to experience a rustic atmosphere close to nature. This place fits perfectly. And traveling onward to the Laos side is also easy.
