You can rent a car to travel; there are car rental services in Attapeu town. As for me, I just walked around the morning market, the evening market, and strolled along the Sekong River. Attapeu is the point where two rivers meet: the Setaman River, which flows from Vietnam through Dak Cheung, and then joins the Sekong River at Attapeu. The view here is quite beautiful. When you go to Attapeu, you can walk along the Sekong River. Another recommended place to visit is the Attapeu morning market, which is lively and has many kinds of fish from the Sekong River, making it colorful.
Regarding accommodation in Attapeu, there are many places. Air-conditioned rooms cost around baht per night, fan rooms cost 200-300 baht per night. Accommodation prices are considered expensive compared to other places. I stayed at Phutwong Guesthouse for per night. The restaurant I relied on while in Attapeu is the Lao People’s restaurant opposite Wat Mai. If you are very hungry like me, you can buy fish from the market and have them fry it for you. Fried mouse fish is especially delicious. This restaurant serves tasty food; former Thai Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai once stopped by to eat here when he went to Vietnam, as seen in the photo on the wall.
