Sam Nuea, Houaphan Province, Vieng Xay

Project gen about hotsia

Vieng Xay, Sam Nuea http://www.hotsia.com > Today I take you to visit Vieng Xay, a city known for the caves where the Lao leader stayed during the war with America. The caves where the leader once hid were not just for a few days or months, but they lived here for decades. Vieng Xay is interesting and attracts travelers occasionally, but not often because it is very far. I will take you to explore the caves in the next story.

This time, let's take a walk around Vieng Xay first. Vieng Xay is a remote city with a lake in the center, surrounded by limestone mountains and rice fields in the middle of town, creating beautiful scenery that anyone would like. I visited during the hot season, but Vieng Xay was not as hot as expected. Students still wore jackets to school in the morning. The population is less than thirty thousand, and most young people go to study in Vientiane or work in big cities.

The city feels quiet and very peaceful. Vieng Xay has one market that serves as both the evening and morning market. The Vieng Xay transport station is next to the market. There is a motorcycle shop in the center of town, which seems quite large for such a small town. Next to the market are two or three restaurants and a hair washing shop. Accommodations are scattered throughout the city. The place where I stayed tonight was by the lake, serving as both a restaurant and lodging. There is no internet in Vieng Xay. Electricity is available but often goes out when it rains. Rice fields in Vieng Xay.

Students walking to school. Vieng Xay is a border town, so not many people travel here often. I am one of the few Thai people who have come here, which made my video clips very interesting to friends. The children smiled and were shy in front of the camera, which was adorable. The market is not as notable as Sam Nuea, but the locals are very friendly. What impressed me most about Vieng Xay is the atmosphere in the evening.

People come to the market to gather and socialize, and there is a popular scratch lottery activity in Laos. I saw Lao brothers and sisters playing, so I couldn't resist and bought some to play with them, but I lost and got nothing. I just enjoyed the excitement of the crowd. I came to Vieng Xay early, taking a two-row bus from Sam Nuea, planning to visit the caves and return in the afternoon because Vieng Xay and Sam Nuea are only 40 km apart. However, since the leader's caves are many and the buses run out quickly by 1 PM,

I had to stay one night here and return to Sam Nuea the next day. I also want to recommend that if you travel independently like me and want a full meal and activities with locals, try buying pork or chicken and ask the restaurant to cook it for you. Sometimes when traveling long distances, you don't get a full meal, so this method works. I tried it here in Vieng Xay, eating half a kilo of fried pork alone, an omelet, and Lao coffee in the morning. Very satisfying :)

Alright, see you next time when we visit the leader's caves. May, mr.hotsia recommends hotels in Sam Nuea for convenient travel. When I arrived in Vieng Xay, I went to find the Lao tourism office and saw students walking to school in the afternoon. The people of Vieng Xay mainly farm rice. There are many beautiful mountains here, most of which are large craters caused by US bombs, which came from Thai airports. The little child of the grandmother... silent after I smiled and took his photo.

This photo clearly shows how much the people of Sam Nuea, Vieng Xay dislike America. This uncle told me he works for UXO (Unexploded Ordnance unit that is inactive). Every day he still finds bombs, and today he destroyed one bomb right there in the field. Laos still has many bombs. I traveled to Vieng Xay to visit the caves of the former Lao leader. This city has many mountains and caves. I missed the 2 PM bus back to Sam Nuea.

So I had to stay one night in Vieng Xay. This city is truly peaceful. At night it is very quiet. Sometimes staying alone in a strange town makes me afraid of ghosts, but ghosts don't exist anyway :) In the morning, there was beautiful fog. The weather is probably the best in this region. I finally had a full meal. I walked to the market in the morning and bought pork ribs for a nearby restaurant to fry. It was very delicious. The people of Vieng Xay are kind. I will have a chance to visit again. On the way back to Sam Nuea, I passed students going to school.

Sam Nuea is cold, and Vieng Xay is even colder. If they sell chickens in Sam Nuea, they would earn an extra 5 baht per chicken, so they take chickens by bus to sell in Sam Nuea. Next time, I will tell the story of the caves I visited, three caves at once. Now I am telling the story up to the return trip. Actually, I have already visited caves in Van city. Stay tuned. Riding the bus to visit the leader's caves in Vieng Xay, missed the bus and stayed one night in Vieng Xay empty-handed.

Playing scratch lottery with the locals in Vieng Xay is so much fun. The children in Vieng Xay are cute and often shy when I film them, which is adorable. This uncle works in the UXO bomb disposal unit. Listen to how they work. Walking in the rice fields of Vieng Xay, the weather is good, the view is beautiful, really worth visiting. The atmosphere of the evening and morning market in Vieng Xay, Sam Nuea, Laos. The cave guide brought a motorcycle to drop me off. Let's enjoy the view of Vieng Xay together.

The transport station in Vieng Xay is very small with few trips, and they fill up quickly. Be careful not to miss the bus like me. Traveling back to Sam Nuea with beautiful views. Next story is about the caves of the Lao leader who hid in caves for decades during bombings!!! Don't miss it. Freshwater lake in the center of Vieng Xay where children come to play; the water is shallow. Beautiful views from Vieng Xay. The accommodation I stayed at tonight extends into the water. Monument in Vieng Xay. Students carrying knives to weed the school grounds.
