Outside town, Luang Prabang province has more travel places. On the way from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng, you can visit Luang Prabang on 13 April every year for Songkran Luang Prabang. Laos is now finished. It's easy to take a direct bus from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang and Luang Prabang to Chiang Mai (see more). Traveling by boat to Luang Prabang, I highly recommend the Slow Boat for safety. Today the boat port in Luang Prabang has moved outside the town (Luang Prabang about 7 kilometers).
