Recommended coffee shops in Mandalay: Taste fresh coffee and relax in a cozy atmosphere with mr.hotsia

If you visit Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city, besides experiencing local culture, traditional food, and historical tourist sites, I, mr.hotsia, have a coffee shop to recommend. This place is perfect for travelers looking for a relaxing spot with Wi-Fi and refreshing drinks in a peaceful atmosphere.

The shop is calledChewy JuniorLocated in Mandalay Region, the exact address is No. 173, 31st Street, between Alley 80 and 81. If you stay at Fortune Hotel like I did, just walk out of the hotel, turn left, pass two intersections, and the shop will be on the right side. It's very easy to spot.

When I traveled to Mandalay, my goal was to find a coffee shop with cool air conditioning and strong Wi-Fi to comfortably browse Facebook, chat, and research more. This shop met all those needs. It wasn’t crowded, had a quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fresh coffee menu, especially the espresso I ordered. I could sit for almost three hours without getting bored.

Besides coffee, Chewy Junior also offers delicious fruit smoothies, which I tried and found very refreshing—perfect for Myanmar’s hot weather. Interestingly, they also sell Mandalay-style sweets here. The recommended treat is small egg cakes, a local specialty. Although I didn’t get to try them, if you visit, don’t forget to taste and tell mr.hotsia if they’re good.

When traveling to Mandalay, many people might also visit nearby Pyin Oo Lwin, known for its beautiful flower gardens and horse-drawn carriage tours, which I have written about in an article.Horse Carriage Tour in Pyin Oo Lwin, Pyin Oo Lwin Public ParkOr you might consider staying atBravo Hotel in Pyin Oo Lwinwhich I also recommend as a good option.

But if you prefer the atmosphere of downtown Mandalay, remember that coffee shops like Chewy Junior are like small oases where you can relax during midday breaks or after exploring the lively Zegyo Market. I have written about Zegyo Market inZegyo Market, Mandalaywhich is a colorful market full of interesting local foods. After walking around the market, you can stop by here to rest and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Mandalay is a city where life remains simple and retains the charm of authentic Myanmar. Walking around, you will see schoolchildren passing by, people living simply, and eateries alongside coffee shops that blend local lifestyle with modernity perfectly, as I experienced inAmarapura Local Cuisine, MandalayDrinking coffee not only as fresh coffee but also instant coffee sachets is another style worth trying.

For those who love fresh coffee and seek a quiet corner in Mandalay, I can say Chewy Junior is the perfect answer. Besides good fresh coffee, you get to relax in cool air conditioning with Wi-Fi sufficient for check-ins or planning your next trip.

If you are interested in full Myanmar cuisine, I recommend reading the articleFood and Dining in Myitkyina, Myanmarwhere I also enjoyed sitting in a coffee shop. Or explore other Mandalay stories on hotsia.com for deeper travel planning.

Finally, for coffee lovers and travelers like me, mr.hotsia recommends adding Chewy Junior to your list of must-visit coffee shops in Mandalay. If you come to this city and want to recharge with fresh coffee and refreshing fruit smoothies, stop by here. You won’t be disappointed.
