Inle Local Cuisine Nyaungshwe http://www.hotsia.com > Inle Lake > Inle Local Cuisine Nyaungshwe Travel information for Inle Lake, Nyaungshwe town, Shan state. Explore Inle Lake and Nyaungshwe, enjoy papaya salad with Inle girls. The local diet of Inle and Nyaungshwe people mainly includes fish caught from Inle Lake and vegetables grown in the lake.

For tourists, there are many cozy restaurants in the town. I ordered Burmese fried rice or Tamintjo. There are restaurants catering to tourists, or if you want to eat like locals, walk through the morning market where you can buy curry rice, khao soi, Tai Yai noodles. Breakfast at hotels usually includes Western style with bread, coffee, and bananas. For lunch, try the places where boats dock; they might get a commission so prices are a bit higher, so I recommend eating a little. For dinner, enjoy a full meal at the boat driver's home if you can arrange it.
Alternatively, have a full meal in Nyaungshwe town. I noticed preserved food at the morning market, including salted snakehead fish similar to those in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar. A unique dish here is khao soi noodles, popular in this town. Travel joyfully, February 2015. Book accommodation at Joy Guesthouse, staying at the same place as Mr.Hotsia. Click here.
