Another activity I often do when exploring and learning about local life while traveling in Southeast Asia is getting a haircut at barbershops in the cities of different countries. In Myanmar, there are two types of barbershops: the traditional ones under the tree trunks, similar to the old Sanam Luang, and the more formal open shops. Conveniently, my hotel, Fortune Hotel, is just to the right. The barbershop in Mandalay has about a dozen barbers, mostly young people.
It's not work for older people or specific to the shop I visited, I don't know. These barbershops don't have shampoo services; once the cut is done, it's finished.
