The face-washing ceremony of the Mahamuni Buddha, Poi Sang Long, authentic Burmese tradition. It is the pyramid of Myanmar located in Sagaing city, Mandalay region, northwest of Myanmar, situated 11 km north of the Irrawaddy River on the western side from Mandalay. Mingun was initiated by King Bodawpaya in 1790. Mingun was left unfinished because astrologers predicted that the king would die once the construction was completed. Construction stopped in 1813.

The Mingun Pagoda was planned to reach a height of 150 meters to be the largest pagoda in the world. However, after the king's death in 1819, construction did not resume, and the earthquake on March 23, 1839, destroyed the unfinished pagoda. Today, cracks are still visible. In summary, only one-third of the Mingun Pagoda was built. If you visit Mingun, don't forget to climb to the top and walk around.

Mingun also has the largest bell in the world. King Bodawpaya cast a giant bell weighing 90 tons. Previously, it was second only to the Tsar Bell in Moscow. Now that the Moscow bell has broken, the Mingun bell is the largest in the world. There are two ways to get to Mingun: the mr.hotsia way is to rent a motorcycle with a driver from Mandalay city. The flat rate is 15 USD or 15,000 Kyats. I left Mandalay at 3 PM and arrived at Mingun at 4 PM.

I took photos and toured for two hours before returning to the city. You can also travel to Mingun by boat, with two daily departures from Mandalay city at 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM. Looking at the map, you don't have to detour over the Irrawaddy River bridge; the route is much shorter. For the return trip, boats leave Mingun around 1 PM. When you arrive in Mingun, I recommend walking around without renting a vehicle. There are three attractions located close to each other.

The walkway between them has many souvenir shops. The first attraction is the Mingun Pyramid of Myanmar. Besides these three places, I was impressed by the route I took passing through remote villages of Mandalay. Locals still use ox carts and bathe in the Irrawaddy River. The atmosphere feels very remote and peaceful. Let the driver go slowly and stop to take pictures of the grasslands along the Irrawaddy River. I think the atmosphere is amazing, Mr.Hotsia. Book a hotel in Mandalay now. Walk around Mingun Mandalay, White Jade Pagoda, Mingun.
