Traveling Myanmar on Your Own - Exploring Mandalay Independently - Sagaing Hills
http://www.hotsia.com > Traveling Myanmar on Your Own > Exploring Mandalay Independently > Sagaing Hills Information for independent travel in Mandalay (Mandalay independent travel, how to get to Mandalay, the world's longest wooden bridge, traditional Mandalay massage, Uthumphon Pagoda, Mandalay Palace, bus from Mandalay to Naypyidaw, two-hook fishing in the water, Mandalay flower market, Mandalay local cuisine, hand-kneaded noodles before eating, Maha Muni Buddha face washing ceremony, authentic Burmese Poy Sang Long festival)

Sagaing is the main city of Sagaing Division's capital in the Mandalay region of Myanmar. Located on the Irrawaddy River's bank, southwest of Mandalay, it lies on the opposite side of the river. Sagaing is a Buddhist religious center filled with monasteries. It was once the capital of the Burmese kingdom from 1760 to 1764, lasting only six years. You can rent a motorcycle with a driver for a day at 15 USD, 15,000 Kyat, or 450 Baht to explore Sagaing Hills.
I started my journey at dawn to catch the sunrise at U Bein Bridge. Later in the morning, I arrived at Sagaing Hills. The vehicle parked at the bottom of the stairs, and I had to climb many steps, which was quite exhausting and sweaty. Elderly people are not recommended to climb. Once at the top, you can see views of various hilltops covered with pagodas. It is a significant tourist attraction in Mandalay, distinct from Bagan, which sounds similar but is 145 kilometers away from Mandalay.
Southwest of Mandalay lies Bagan, famous worldwide for its sea of pagodas. Unfortunately, this time I chose to go to Naypyidaw and did not visit Bagan. Next time, I will return to Bagan. I aim to explore every region and state of Myanmar. At the hilltop, there is a small shop selling drinks and coffee with a great view and cool breeze. I recommend sitting down to relax and enjoy a cold coffee. When visiting places with scenic views, it's good to spend at least 30 minutes just sitting and soaking it all in.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere. Traveling is not just about tiring yourself out. I sat sipping a canned Thai coffee served by the shop owner, watching the road where vehicles came from and the miniature sea of pagodas. Reflecting on life, it is brief, and soon we all leave this world. Just like the pagodas, which have stood for hundreds or thousands of years, they too will eventually crumble. mr.hotsia August 2013 Book hotels in Mandalay now Sagaing Hills Mandalay Mandalay local food
