Traveling Yangon independently, taking the Yangon circular train, Kao House hotel in Yangon, fried shrimp at Inya Lake, Burmese houses in Yangon, Yangon public parks, Tai Yai Thai food in Yangon, getting exactly what you wish for, street food in Yangon (Botataung Paya), Botahtaung Pagoda (Botahtaung)

This is a famous pagoda in Yangon, located in the heart of Yangon city, Myanmar, near the Yangon River. The pagoda was originally built by the Mon people around the same time as the Shwedagon Pagoda. According to local belief, over 2,500 years ago, this pagoda was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt after the war. It is well known among Thai visitors because it houses the Bo Bo Gyi spirit deity.
Bo Bo Gyi is said to grant wishes quickly and exactly as requested. This deity traditionally represents the guardian spirit. Bo Bo Gyi is often depicted as an elderly man pointing his finger. Many Thai people come here to pay respects. Visitors often offer bananas to Bo Bo Gyi. After worshipping Bo Bo Gyi, walking inside the pagoda feels similar to visiting the tunnel temple in Chiang Mai. Then I recommend walking to the Yangon riverside for sightseeing.
There is a ferry pier crossing the Yangon River with boats similar to double-deckers shuttling back and forth, used by locals. Stop by to take photos by the river and observe the daily life of Yangon people. Next to the pagoda, a Burmese woman sells skewered stewed pork. Please support her; it’s delicious—I have tasted it myself. mr.hotsia June 2013 Recommended popular hotels in Yangon Small ferry pier, Yangon 16 46 5.189 N, 96 10 19.817 E GPS coordinates (POI) 16 46 5.279 N, 96 10 19.835 E 16 46 5.387 N, 96 10 19.961 E
