Riding the Yangon Circle Line Train is a highly recommended activity when visiting Yangon. The full circle takes about 3 hours and costs 1 USD (30 Baht). This train is designed especially for tourists to explore Yangon city. There are staff at the ticket office who speak good English. The train service around the city is available for both locals and tourists.
You will see the daily life of Yangon residents getting on and off, houses along the railway. The first hour stays within Yangon city. The second hour passes through Myanmar countryside with water spinach fields on both sides and even passes Yangon airport. The last hour returns to Yangon again. The three-hour journey passes quickly while enjoying the views. To get to the train station, take a taxi. On the return, taxis are available in front of the station with fair prices. They do not overcharge, and bargaining is not effective because they consider it a fixed fare. If you don't get in, they won't insist.
The circle line train is a local railway network serving Yangon metropolitan area, operated by Myanmar Railways. It covers a total distance of 45.9 kilometers (28.5 miles) passing 39 stations, connecting satellite towns and suburban areas to the city. There are about 200 coaches running 20 times a day, approximately once every hour.
