Teacher Arun both paints and helps run the coffee shop, moving between two nearby locations. The children he teaches to paint have improved greatly and now create postcards sold at the temple. The income from sales supports these children. So if you visit Chiang Saen and come to this temple, don't forget to buy postcards from these kids. I first met Teacher Arun when I went to release lanterns by the Mekong River in Chiang Saen and saw him painting the river view there. I was curious about who he was, and only got to know him the next day when I visited the temple.
Teacher Arun looks young but shows great dedication to teaching the children. On the day I visited, I saw him painting surrounded by kids watching closely. Teacher Arun was painting at Wat Phra That Chedi Luang Chiang Saen. Newspapers featured stories about the Children's Art Monastery. He was painting at Wat Phra That Chedi Luang, at Boon Uthit shop and Heaven on Earth coffee shop in Chiang Saen. This was during the Mr.Hotsia trip to Chiang Khong - Chiang Saen, Ban Nom Hin, Ban Don Maha Wan, the 4th Mekong River Bridge, and Wat Phra That Chedi Luang.
