When I arrived at Doi Chaang, I stayed at Baan Suan Doi Chaang Resort. There is a junction going up a few hundred meters past Krua Doi Chaang restaurant. This resort on the mountain offers a beautiful view of the sea of mist from the bed without even sitting up.
I like Baan Suan Doi Chaang because I can watch the sea of mist from the bed. Baan Suan Doi Chaang has about 10 individual houses. When I went, the owner's girlfriend made Akha-style omelet with shallots. It was very delicious. When you visit Doi Chaang, try to have them make it for you. It's a special menu you can order in addition to the regular breakfast. When visiting Doi Chaang, you should not miss Doi Chaang coffee, which is sold all over the country. Having it here at the source makes me proud. The owner is kind and provides Doi Chaang coffee as well.
Sitting sipping coffee and watching the morning rice fields while planning the trip with the owner is nice. Drink coffee, then have morning rice porridge and Akha omelet (special order, extra charge), then continue the trip. You can visit the sacred pond at the top or drive around other nearby hills. You can also walk around to observe the lifestyle in the village, which is home to both Lisu and Akha ethnic groups living together.
