When you reach the junction, turn right and continue for another 2 kilometers. Shortly after, on the left side, there is a coffee shop named this. This shop sells coffee and also offers accommodation. It is run by locals from Pha Tang, perfect for stopping by to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before exploring deeper into Pha Tang. Most people at Doi Pha Tang are Yunnan Chinese from the 93rd Infantry Division.
This has shaped the local culture to be Chinese in style, including food and tea tasting. The owner of this shop is a descendant of the 93rd Infantry Division soldiers and is one of the few who studied in Taiwan (another being the owner of Baan Din). Since I drove from Phayao at around 3 a.m., I visited Phu Chi Fa to watch the sunrise, then came to Doi Pha Tang.
Feeling very sleepy, I stopped to have coffee at this coffee house. Initially, I planned to stay here overnight, but the accommodation price was quite high compared to the city, so I just had coffee and tea. Oh, I forgot to mention that at Doi Pha Tang, strawberry cultivation is supported, so the strawberries here are fresh and delicious, including strawberry wine and jam. If you visit this shop, don't forget to try the fresh strawberry jam without any artificial coloring, as it is fragrant and tasty unlike typical commercial jams. Give it a try.
