Jit Old Shop at Chiang Saen Night Market is delicious with a queue. When traveling independently like Mr.Hotsia, there’s no chance to eat at fancy expensive restaurants. Mostly, I eat at night market food stalls, local made-to-order food, or if very hungry, I eat grilled pork pan because it’s cheap and affordable, like paying 89 or 99 baht. In Chiang Saen, I chose to eat made-to-order food at the night market opposite the 7-Eleven.
Around there, there are noodle shops, fresh milk, Little Bee, and many made-to-order food stalls. I really liked the stir-fried crispy pork with holy basil at Jit Old Shop. This place always has a queue. And it did not disappoint. Their holy basil stir-fry is very delicious; the crispy pork has no rancid smell, not chewy, perfectly cooked and really to my liking. I also tried other nearby stalls, but they didn’t suit my taste as much. In conclusion, I can confidently say this made-to-order food stall is truly delicious. Chiang Saen’s nightlife is lively around the night market by the river.
Elsewhere, there are some shady liquor shops near the deep-water pier. I understand it’s convenient for serving crew members so they don’t have to walk far. If you want to eat delicious food in Chiang Saen, remember the name well: "Jit Old Shop Made-to-Order Food." Their stir-fried holy basil with crispy pork is really tasty. The Chiang Saen night market zone has fast, cheap, and delicious made-to-order food. There’s also a pad thai stall, but I haven’t tried it yet.
