Chiang Rai Doi Chang Mub

http://www.hotsia.com > Chiang Rai > Doi Chang Mub On the route from Mae Sai to Doi Tung, there are two ways to get there. The main route is the main road down towards Mae Fah Luang. The other route follows the Myanmar border. I chose the Myanmar border route. The road is good but quite steep. You will pass two checkpoints: the first is called the Kuteng Nayong Operations Base, and the second is the Doi Chang Mub Operations Base. Both bases have rest stops and scenic viewpoints with beautiful views, but Doi Chang Mub is even better.

At Doi Chang Mub, they have set it up like Khao Kho, allowing tourists to visit and enjoy the views. You can also camp overnight here. The view from Doi Chang Mub is beautiful, with a sight of the Myanmar military base. The Thai and Myanmar soldiers here get along well and often play takraw together. I even played takraw with the Thai soldiers for a while. Unfortunately, the Myanmar soldiers were not there the day I visited, or else I would have competed with them. Our camp at Doi Chang Mub is right along the Thai-Myanmar border line.

On the Myanmar side, they are on another hill also close to the Thai border. If you drive from the Kuteng Nayong base, you will pass the Myanmar soldiers first. I have recorded a clip of the Myanmar military base to share with you. Now, let's watch my takraw skills in the video below... Mr.Hotsia October 2010. The view at Doi Chang Mub is truly beautiful. Camping is allowed here. I played takraw with the Thai soldiers at the Doi Chang Mub Operations Base. Check out my moves. Driving past the Myanmar military base at Doi Chang Mub.

This is the field where the right half belongs to Myanmar and the left half is Thai territory (as the soldiers there told me). View of Mae Sai from the Kuteng Nayong base. Camera set up at Kuteng Nayong base. Kuteng Nayong base of the 1st Cavalry Platoon. Viewpoint at Kuteng Nayong. Mae Sai seen from a higher angle than Doi Wao. Checkpoint at Doi Chang Mub. Myanmar military operations base at Doi Chang Mub. Doi Chang Mool viewpoint. Doi Chang Mub is 1,485 meters above sea level. Other trips by Mr.Hotsia in Chiang Rai include the highest hot springs in Thailand.
