Khun Tan is an ordinary district, but what I like is the journey coming from Phu Chi Fa, crossing Phu Yao. This mountain is very long and high. Driving across it is truly amazing. The name of Khun Tan District comes from oral history, named after the Khun Tan Stream, a large stream flowing through Pa Tan Subdistrict, serving as a major lifeline nourishing this area. However, current clear evidence suggests that the name "Khun Tan" likely originates from Phra That Khun Tan, a sacred religious site respected by local people.
Every year, there is a water pouring ceremony and Buddhist worship activities during various festivals. Currently, Phra That Khun Tan is located at kilometer marker 84 on Highway 1020 [junction of Highway 1 (Chiang Rai) - Chiang Khong].
